hay all
so for a little bit now i have been playing around a bit with some wind meters and checking out what westerlys can generate going thru citys. so what better place to try this then the gold coast and i couldnt go past q1. as those poor buggers in mooloolaba learnt the other day when strong winds get compressed by other buildings it can be pretty intense.
given that no one really kites in offshore wind net alone smack bang in surfers i was wondering if anyone else would like to come see what happens :)
tomorrow sounds fun end of Hamilton avenue
coastguard.com.au/flotilla/qf1-southport/
i have waterproof vhf and licence and will be notifying the cg with detailed times etc but the only goal is to see if i can go from 18knots to 40 or so in space of a few meters to get enough lift to fly then to go back into the 18 knot stream.
will be a little easier to find the streams with another kiter on the water if someones keen.
cheers
Some one should go down just to find out who this Kozzie character really is and why he's such a F**%&*!!!
I want what he's having!!!
Well Ok Kozzie - I did get a bit of what you said - but it still doesn't make any sense!!

really? i have met like ..... 50 people on here over the last decade
im the man with the circular hat fastened by a chin strap
the one who shreds only in less then 15 knots
the man so dangerous devices like impact vests and helmet are not optional
my sunglasses are red and my shirt is cotton with flames
my plain faced with nods in approval on the beach as i come in from a session and says, yes dear
i am
a seabreezer
oh and to cloudy to do what i wanted today gonna give it another crack in a coupla days
I'm interested to know how this goes but can't make it to the GC.
Do you have support boat or jetski?
I've met KOZZIE once.
He's an old skool kite teacher from the two line days.
Suffering from PTSD from Vietnam. I once seen him bite the head off a seagull.
Wears an old Slayer tee shirt down the beach - Somehow related to Clive Palmer.
Mate good luck!
I reckon your kite will get a good wash.
Someone please film and post this.
Keen to hear how it goes, will keep an eye on the evening news

i dont have any eye lids so i needed the gulls blood to keep them moist
Today looks to be perfect....for what ever it is that u want to do
I will see u at the end of Hamilton ave around lunch time!
PS. I don't kite in offshore conditions.....just bringing my camera
ill be the kook wandering around with a windmeter half way up a vented kites lines taking readings with streamers on it. just mapping the winds flow for now around these buildings
A smoke flare from the corner of the 10th floor window (being vary careful not to set the fire alarm off) may be helpful if it works but is hard to time.
I guess your in NZ by now Kozzie? Me and a couple of lads kited off Currumbin today Friday 24 Jun, gusty as all get out and the 12 was a bit of a tiger to hang onto
and yet i still got all my mapping done gilly
maybe instead of telling me where i need to go and what time if you really want to meet me just put up some beers
a delta kite with large holes throughout its canopy attached to 40m lines with several red 4m streamers attached to the lines spread out is pretty obvious. the wind meters were just attached at 2 points 15m and 30m and bluetoothed back to my modified ereader running some wind mapping software
bit more obvious then a bloke in a bucket hat holding up a little windmeter
anyways looks like itll be friday again before shes comeing in at that direction (markwell btw not wherever you thought the venturi would be) but will go again tuesday i think

Sorry bud, but I'm confused......
Could you please clarify the above before i waste good beer money
hamilton ave was for previous day when it was more straight westerly it was a touch north other day so the main venturi was basting out near markwell
the wind changes directions
