Hello seabreezers, longtime lurker and first-time poster.
im a Canadian and spent the last 7 months in WA enjoying the amazing beaches and learned how to kitesurf (windsurfer before oz). When my visa expires at the end of October I want to go somewhere with consistent winds and kite everyday. The plan is to improve and get my ability up to the level where I can become an instructor and start teaching the next season! My requirements for a place are pretty simple; consistent wind and cheap living (around $30 a day).
One obvious place that has captured my attention is boracay; cheap, apparently consistent wind, and partying which is just a bonus. The downside is that is crowded and apparently the bay is rather polluted
...
Another option is siargao island in the Philippines. Cheap like boracay, waves as well, consistent wind????? Less crowded and therefore less partying. Seems good. Any more info??
Obviously Asia has the benefit of being situated close to Australia and cost effective. but im not opposed to going to Latin America or Africa if anyone Could recommend a good spot. Im all ears to any ideas or suggestions :-)
Cheers guys
Hello Drail,
We have just opened our 2th Kiteboardschool in the Philippines. Right on the spot that you mentioned. The undiscovered kitespot! Siargao! We work there together with a great and big Surfcamp.
Pm me for details.
Quick Google image search shows Siargo looks like a beautiful spot ! www.google.com.au/search?q=siargao+island&espv=2&biw=960&bih=489&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=QcFuVYG0KYOT8QWotYPoBg&ved=0CBwQsAQ
Braaaaaazzzzzzziiiiillllllll......
Fly to Fortaleza, work up the coast. It might cost you a shade more than $30/day but you should be able to find some cheapish accommodation as you head north. Fun people, warm water, solid wind.
Heard good things from Siargao! First from the surfing and now people begiining finding the way to kite there. Boracay is too busy.
If you want wind then countries lashed by the roaring 40's storms are the place to be.

Pagudpud looks good too. There is actually a wind farm up that way.
