Hi to all Bowen crew,
i was told to read off the hamilton island reading on seabreeze for your forcast, is that correct?
what is the ideal wind direction and what is it like to kite north westerly winds there? And also which beach do you kite at?
cheers RICO
I dont live at bowen but have kited there a few times
There are lots of good beaches and it really depends on the directions.
I think the prosperpine graph is more like what bowen would be getting than hamo
as the isalnd is a ways off the coast and the wind does funnel out there
have fun and wear a stinger suit
Go to the mouth of the don in easterly to NW, front beach for SE, Prosy graph has no resemblance to whats goin on in bowen, Hamo can be close but usually take 3-5 knts of the reading, if its 25-30 SE in hamo you will have 20-25 SE in bowen also alva beach can give a pretty similar reading for eastearly to north. But sometimes its in a world of its own and can be blowin when it is nowhere else.
I dont think any bowen kiters actually read seabreeze forums, I have windsurfed there and sailed there for the last 15 years but recently left, it has to be one of the best locations in qld, great flat water and bump and jump.
Hey Rico if you see a guy in T'vle windsurfing in a red helmet, about 50ish, go and ask him about Bowen, he'll tell you where to go, His name is Nigel and his son Sam kites in T'vlle as well
Thanks for the info guys, just wanted to know if it was worth the trip down.
Wormy, nigel was the one who told me about the hamo reading :) his son sam is one of our team riders for "in the loop kiteboarding" JCU kiteboarding club.
ever come up north and want to know where to kite, just check our website www.intheloopkiteboarding.com
cheers once again
