hi
i am going to bali this coming tuesday for 2 1/2 weeks and am taking my stuff. what is the wind strenght usually like in bali (sanur) at that time of year and what sizes of kites should i take for unhooking.
thanks
ewan
p.s i weigh 50kgs and have a 6m and 10m switchblade 3's and was thinking if i should take a 14-15 meter for sub 13 knots.
Hi Ewan,
Bali and more specifically Sanur, doesn't get a lot of wind generally. If I were you I'd take a 14m and a 10m for just in case you get a windy day.
I've heard of guys getting a week straight of being on a 12m, but this is more the exception than the rule. Forget the 6m!
Average Bali wind is very warm and tropical so subtract a couple of knots off due to the air density factor. An 18 knot day would be considered a good windy day in Bali.
I have run IKO Instructor Training Courses in Sanur on several occassions. Every time we had a 5 day glass off. I'd just take a surfboard and forget kiting personally.
Bitchin waves in Bali this time of year!
Good winds and smash a few Bintangs for me,![]()

thanks kitehard
i am still not sure whether to leave the 6m as i would switch from my 10m to my 6m in about 18knots, so the windrange for my 6m is 15-35 knots and the windrange for the 10m is 9-22 (perfect would be 16 knots.) and perfect for unhooking on the 6m would be 19-20 knots. but what is the average wind like in sanur in june/july?

well how many people on here ask questions that could be answered by doing a little bit of work themselves. instead they ask and sombody else finds out for them.im all for asking peoples opinions but this is a simple geography question>>>>>>>>>>>>>
i was asking because i know that there are many people on seabreeze that have been to bali and have personal experiences and not just some online predictor, OK WILLIS!
u make sure you tell everyone how good u are and that u unhook all the time.. surely someone of ur skill level is able to work out what kites they need based on the given wind strength
Willis
well off you go and do work, the odd question does start a conversation where you may even get tips not found elsewhere. or even just have a friendly chat, socialise, share stuff.
it does sound like you could 'work' on your socializing skills
willis, all i was asking was what is the wind strength and what kite size should i take, sorry if for some reason you take this personally and have gotten worked up about it but i was just asking a simple question
Ciao Ewan,
no worries that is why we are here in the forum.
You are light but live the 6m at home... I don't think nobody even has on in the all island.
Wind is mostly on the 11 to 14 knots range.
Maybe you can just bring your 10m if you use a surfboard!
Give a look to our web site.
Bye Jankie
going to bali and not surfing is a sin
ewan you better charge some 8 foot ulu's while your over there or you can just give me your ticket haha

But better you write me directly for this kind of info.

Yes 14/15, don't build it up as a consistently windy kiting spot cos otherwise you will be disappointed, but a few relaxed low wind sessions are fun on the east coast when it is on.
