Just about to order a couple of kites I normally just ride 1 x 12 metre.
I am constantly riding overpowered on the 12 so I am going to go with either a 11.5 and 9 or 10.5 and 8.
I think the ideal the ideal size for 22 knots wake style is an 8 metre.
Love to know a few thoughts.

reckon 10m at 22knots - depends how many pies I suppose
if you have a 12 buy a 9 and you would be sweet?

Going to get a 2 kite quiver. Thinking 11.5 and 9 or 10.5 and 8.
Was thinking 10.5 hybrid and 8 dedicated C.

I reckon a 3m gap is about as small as you want, too much overlap otherwise. Also if you have a small gap then deciding which kite to choose becomes much harder.

3. What style of riding are you doing?
3. Are you beginner, intermediate or advanced.
I ride a 17metre Zephyr, 10 & 7 Metre Rebels I ride surf and freeride and I am 90kg. I am thinking of changing my 17 for a 15 metre soon. Maybe a North Juice so I can ride more in waves when its really light.
Also Its down to board selection as well. I can ride a north nugget with my 17 metre in very light winds and ride my 135 TT with the 7 metre in 30+ Knots.

How many manufacturers make medium or large kites in decimal, ok when looking at small kites 5.5 or 6.5 but 11.5 seriously?? Maybe its for those who cannot make their mind between a 11 or 12... or they want to be different ... or prove they can add up in non whole numbers...

8m c kite at 80kegs might see you underpowered man unless you riding super flat water. I'd go the 11.5 and 9m. A tleast you can still dangle on a 9m in 30knots. 8m are too quick for wakestyle really. what kites you looking at?
Hey James, I've got a 14m & 11.5m. Both really nice kites. I'm probably going to get an 8m as well (replace my Mr Green). I'm 73-75kgs, ride a 142 Joke.
The kites are pretty grunty but with the v bridle and 5th line they end up having a big window for riding and still maintain solid grunt. I set mine up so the 5th line and leader lines all have tension (no slack in 5th line). The set up for these kites on a 5th line, allows you to depower the kite and not loose any tension in all 3 lines. Kind of like a supported leading edge. For wakestyle you wanna set it on slowest setting for steering, and down wind for leaders. Makes handle passes way easier. Just in case you're still thinking of doing this... I reckon since lower winds are generally a lot less gusty you want to go a C for your bigger and hybrid for the smaller. Reason I say that is if you ride a 10.5 hybrid stacked it won't slack to save your life. 13m C is my go to for 15-20. You can be absolutely cooked and it will still slack. If you get over cooked on an 8 you can just do loops and generally hybrids are quite good for that. Good example when I was talking to Sam L about the new Fuels, he was telling me that he rides the bridle on the 7 and 9 and goes straight 4 line on the 11 and 13m.
P.S. My advice is to always have the same kites. I'd just pick what C you're going to get and then get 2 sizes of it. Having two different models just messes with your timing.
I have an 8 and a 10. The 8 seems to have no top end (I've had it in 35knots) and if its not windy enough for the 10 then I can't be arsed kiting (aka mowing the lawn) anyway.

The 8m is for 22+ kts cranking SE'rlys, 10m for 20+ kts on the beach, the 12m good for the 18+kts days but not more than 20kts otherwise like you, way overpowered.

haha i don't really give too much thought to my gear. I just pump up and hang on!
25 knots and a 12 is great for big air just no unhooking!
Agree with Drury on this one of having the same kites. different kites will slow your progression
But lower winds are better for wakestyle as you don't get so beaten up I currently run a 9.5 and a 11.5 maniac both on 5th and get about 15 to 25 comftable Wind range

how are you finding them Pedleym? what is the wind range for the 9.5?

I really enjoy the kites. The timing is somthing that takes some time to get use to. But once you have it dialed you really appreciate the way the kite responds especially for wake/freestyle
if you do decide on them deffinetly consider the fith line kit as well
ps these things boost huge if you get the technic right
