Hi chaps
With kite lines can you connect 2 lines with a larks head knot and a loop or do you need to sleeve the lines first to conect them?

Cheers

I am not super experienced when it comes to line technology, but i assume one of the benefits of sleeving is to make it easier to undo the lines. I have a few nots in my lines that are a result of some bad tangles (resulting from some hairy situations) and due to the pressure put on the line when flying the kite they are impossible to get out now. So i assume if you want to undo the knots just tying them probably would result in a permanent knot.

Anyone please correct me if iam wrong as iam just speculating.

there is not a single knot that I haven't been able to undo. Gently tap it with a rubber mallet or hammer on a hard surface and keep rolling it. Start grabbing bits and pull. Tap again, repeat. I have been amazed how good this technique is and so far 100 percent.

i have never seen a knot I can't undo Maxiy. Soak them in water and massage the knot open even with your teeth if you have to. Knots can halve the breaking strain of your line although I have used a fishing knot to reconnect a broken line that seemed to work until I could replace it.

Well the answer is, (to the original post) yes you can. Is it optimal? No. Can you do that in an emergency? Yes. If you have sleeving kits then great, you can make a permanent fix that will last. Of knots, well that has been answered as well...

wet the knots get a spoon and bang and smush it for ahwhile and itll loosen up.

its important to undo the knots before ever flying that kite because it HALVES its strength down to a lowly 7 times strength steel (steels pretty ****ing weak to be honest)
