I've been very frustrated for not being able to train.
I've seen a guy on Christmas break kiting and i got crazy, this is too cool, so I bought a training kite and I'm training.
but the fact is that i work full time and live in the west of Sydney (not close to the beach), therefore i only have weekends free for kitesurf.
But every bloddy weekend the wind is not good.
Is it normal? Is someone experiencing the same?
Also, is there any one with sone suggestion for cheap lessons?
thanks a lot

Easy: the addiction will take over and then you'll move near the beach.
Gotta be close so as soon as you see the wind tree move, the gear is in the car and you are at the beach!
Also, kiting mid week gives you another 70% chance of scoring wind!

Last year was excellent this year's crap that's just the way it rolls. Best tip I can give is when the winds up get out and enjoy it - no excuses. To many times in the beginning I use to say "today's pretty good but tomorrows even better so I save myself for tomorrow" BAD decision as Murphy's law gets you every time. I'm finding this year the wind/ rain forecast is wrong more times than it's right...

When it's on, you will probably find yourself taking single days annual leave if your work permits it.
I feel your pain. That's why most of us have at least 3 kites and 2 boards to cover from 9kn to 35kn. That way if it's blowing you usually get chance for a ride.
The other half of the battle is to let your wife know this is what you NEED.

Good luck

Every day of the week, life's about choices, get it right and you can live next to the beach, have great wind , and an income to buy your kit,

Thanks guys for the replies... on e day I'll live near the beach, i promisse myself.
Murphy's law is playing a good part on it.
Bought one of those skateboards with big whells and hoping to be able to train on a grass field somewhere near home, like an oval.
Hope that will help me a bit.
Cheers

Unfortunately any sport controlled by the weather variables in Sydney has its inconsistencies hence frustration. How many surf contests are held in under 3 foot crap waves? This is what killed windsurfing in the early 1990s. We had 2 drizzly summers, little wind. So most guys gave up coz their no.1 weekend summer sport didn't exist. You need a backup sport such as pushbike riding, ocean swimming at least 1 klm or surfing. The chances of having wind over 16 knots on a weekend is slim.Good luck with it.

In Perth some weeks I kite upto 20 hours in a week, mostly on weeknights. There are heaps of guys out there WAY more than me. I finish work at 5pm.

Ah yes the wind Gods are truly a cruel lot.

I work outside ( roofing ) and the wind is a pain in the ass , and 90% of the time its windy.

Now the weekends turn up and NOTHING.........Frustrating to say the least..

Working is so overrated...

I've had to resort to wakeboarding this season due to the wind being so tempremental and hard to get right...one minute its 20kts, then 20 minutes later you arrive at the beach and its either dropped out or no where near as powerful as you thought...

Good thing about waking is you can do it pretty much when you want!! Bad thing is you need lots of money for a boat, fuel, a crew, gear, maintenance etc. etc.

In summer i can get out most windy days and if i miss a day or 2 its not to bad because theres always wind within tge next day or 2, but winter is depressing only get one or 2 days a week of kitable wind and if i happen to get stuck at work (days are shorter so getting away on time is a must) i get super frustrated, iv even done a few night kites. Just little half hour sessions but enough to get it out of my system. I live walking distance from where i kite which helps alot.

The obvious solution is to work just enough to buy a kit and then quit your job.
