hay have my first set a ss td 12m now iam thinking about winter and there being not much wind around i was not sure on how big to go on my next kite for light wind days iam around 95kgs and mostly kite around brissy and the goldie and it will be a second hand kite any thoughts thanks
Use the 12 and get a massive board, really wide is better. the large kites apparently have really slow turning making it harder to generate more power. I'm 100kgs and get going with my 13 and a mates plywood 'door' in about 10 knots....
in winter its either windy as hell or thers nothing.. id go smaller for those really windy days!! its more fun than puttering around with a big kite in nothing

I think for a 95 kg rider you should go a 16. I am 70kgs and used to ride a 14 C all the time. I recon you better off riding a twin tip and a 16 rather than a 12 with a surfboard.

Most 16m kites turn quite slow, but up here in Darwin, the 16m North Rebels 08 are quite popular, and they do turn pretty damn fast. Or you could go for a shortish (about 135cm-140cm) but quite wide board as your light wind board. The Nobile EXT fits the bill perfectly, but they are very pricey and have the tendency to submarine if your not paying attention (well for me anyway :P). Either way, you should be able to get going in roughly 10-11 knots
trust me mate that 12 should be fine.. get something like the Airush protoy exile as a light wind board or maybe the liquid force WLF. if you cant ride in lighter winds than you are with your 12 n one of those boards its really a waste of time and relaunching a big kite is a pain in the arse! i wouldnt go any bigger then a 14m...but once again youl seriously have more fun on like a 9 in those 20 - 30 days then you would on a 14 - 16 in those 12 knot days.
i'd go the 16m...sounds like a lot of blokes who answered don't even ride one so whats the point of answering if don't even like big kites.sounds bit biased..i do own 16m and sure it turns slower but so does a 12m compared to an 8m.take it in context..have been out on light wind days and all boys on beach sitting and watching.know what i'd rather do!!!!!!
definitely get a 16 if you want to ride a normal sized twin tip.
Sure you can do laps on a surfboard and 12m when it's light, or you can fork out for a bigger board or make a plywood monstrosity (both of which you'll be unable to ride once it hits 15-20kts). but I'd go for a bigger kite and the board you already have, especially when decent boards are going to cost nearly as much as a second hand kite.
A good 06/07 16m won't cost the earth and are still bloody fun in light winds - sure they turn slower, but then that can be an advantage when you are learning basic tricks like fronts and backs.
I'm 85-90 kilos depending on seasonal variations (christmas = 90kg...) and have ridden a 16m/12m/9m combo since day one and would still be riding my 06 16m vegas except for the new rebels i got for christmas.
I'm with mrjf - don't listen to the lightweights from another state.

a 14m Flow will have the same grunt as anything youl get in the 16m range. go look at the 08 flows. 07 had way to much bar pressure.
