Probably forbidden by cool police. But.. Is there any decent kind of invention that helps make a lost board more visible?

Nose dived on a decent wave yesterday, losing my board. Kite catching the wave and tumbling a few times. Took ages to relaunch. By this time I couldn't see my board anywhere.

Took about 40min to spot it with help from a mate. It was my second ride on my new recoil comp. (which is awesome, just skips across the water so fast). I was getting pretty worried..

My last board was blue and white (bad colours to look for in surf) This board is almost totally black and was very hard to spot.

Never lost a board before but nearly losing a brand new awesome one....

Any thoughts.

More info please. I searched Goe Joe... Is it that massive thing the kid is leaning on having a drink?
I couldn't find anything about Goe Joe..

If it is that massive thing, does anyone else have any ideas?

That Goe Joe thing was a joke right.. some baby thing is it..

Yeah... I'm not getting one of them. I'd have to give myself a wedgie for buying one. thanks anyway. Is there anything that is small light and discrete until you are off the board?

Colour of the board is really important, yellow is by far the best colour for a board.

I can't think of anything that wouldn't completely suck and screw up your board and look bad. You would be like one of those mobility aids with an orange flag.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I had a GoJoe when I first started kiting. In high winds, the lost board would go downwind like a rocket, and in low winds hardly at all. I eventually got a leash.

Dunno if it would work in daylight, but for night kiting, I have had my eye on this strobe light: www.seattlesportsco.com/

Well, I moved on from using a leash a long while back, but not having one cost me hours and hours of chasing my board down when I could have been learning to kite. I recommend a reel leash while you're getting started.

Night kiting is fun - a full moon in Cabarete - wheee. Never lost my board, but others did. Definitely recommend a strobe light or chemlight attached to the board.

Think I'll either do nothing or buy some bright yellow caution stickers... (as well as getting a of coarse)

You could put some high visibility tape on your board.

www.identi-tape.com/USCGFP.htm

I have a North Jaime Pro board, which is mostly white, but the edges are yellow. Its the edges that you see from a distance. Maybe also the footstraps and fins, depending on whether the board is upside down or not.

I thought about putting some of that reflective tape on my footstraps but never got around it it.

haha. Thanks for the help and vote of confidence Floatsie. Sorry to have upset your grumpy old ways by 'sounding like a kook' and thinking the Goe Joe would be **** to ride with. Anyway, if you're up this way ever pm me and we'll go kiting. Otherwise look for the guy with the pink board with yellow stickers, a leash, several probe shaped disco strobes and a bike flag for extra safety.
