Basically if the country name of Nigeria ever comes up in any sort of international money transaction you can count on it being a scam..

Still, millions of non-fraudulent transactions take place on it every week..

Seriously? In this day and age? How could you ever thought that this would be a good deal via western union or money gram. And Nigeria? Come on. You are either taking the piss or you are as green as a new born corn shoot.
Paypal or credit card only. Then you are insured for such idiocy.
If you genuinely did fall for this, sorry to hear about your misfortune. It was a 1500 dollar lesson.

I think the problem is, that people genuinely think the Internet is a living, talking, breathing, trusting (!!), human being!

The only time I send money through the internet is via PayPal or Direct Debit, and ONLY to established shops/businesses like marine shops, kite shops, etc.

Never deal with Alibaba.

I wonder how the effen does Nigeria trade at all with the global economy? Who would trust them?

Why would you think that that was a good idea in the first place? It says items are in Austria and Italy and then he asks you to send money to Nigeria and you did it... You're not going to get much of a pity party here.

Apart from the really big online players I'll always use Paypal or credit card, heck, I'll even use Google street view to ensure a business actually exists with a shop front before making payment.

Also know of a farmer dude that was befriended on Facebook this week by someone on another farm, the chat turned saucy and he was asked to send a lewd video of himself. He did, then got held to ransom and told to send money or the video would be posted to his Facebook Wall.

He sent the money, they demanded more, when he refused it was posted to his wall within minutes. I'm amazed people still fall for this ****, let alone don't know they can tweak their Facebook settings so you get notification and an opportunity to review all posts before anything is posted to your timeline and also the chance to review anything you're tagged into.

Actually I was curious , I had heard of many people who had bought without problems. So was a calculate risk. It should be a good deal. So I tried.
This is the trick he uses ( next post i give you scammer's name).
You pay for 3 or more kites but he sends you height or more .
He says is the new company policy for a minimum order or a mistake
So he asks to pay extra items and stop shipping in the middle of the way.
Obviously i did not pay more.
So in the schedule of the shipping company there is my package blocked "full payment required" but I don't know what is in .
Maybe is empty .
He continue to ask me money for extra kites

While being cheated of your 1500 totally sucks. You should think positively that thats all you lost and you certainly learnt something.
Lots of people have been scammed out of all their life savings.

Put a thread about alibaba recently.

If you buy a kite through alibaba..... Then you're stupid and I'm not rescuing when you're drowning.

When dealing with a genuine seller, they will happily send you samples etc.

Kite tape, dyneema, spectra, even D2 ripstop or tenjin..... Go for it and go nuts......

But if you buy a kite your a knob...... You deserve to be ripped $1000 and be taught a lesson.

Alibaba is a great place to get stuff factory direct from China / Taiwan.

I had a case of fraud a few months back and got a full refund. They are a pretty good bunch - much larger selection that e-bay if your after manufacturing or raw materials.

I bought from Aliexpress before. It's not the site, its the scammers behind adds. There is a difference.
It's a lesson i say, the best kind of a lesson.

Btw thx for pointing out the scammer and do your research on how to shop online asap so this don't happen again!
