hello everyone, i have been kiting for about a month up riding ,cross wind and started going upwind the day that i had my incident, had been riding for several hours when i water started (15 knots) pointed board cross wind ,downwind,dove kite about the same as i had been all day ,when i got face planted(tea bagged) not the first time ,lol ,sure not the last,but seriously my left foot did not come out of the strap ,i was starting to the left,tore up my knee pretty good, heard a pop,pulled safety ,flagged out kite,self rescued ,fellow kiters helped me ,kite and board up onto land. mcl (OUCHH),bruised shin, ,six days later still in recovery mode but now trying to figure out what i did different(wrong) to cause this to happen ,do NOT want to make same mistake again, 14 m kite, 161 twintip ,knee to waist high water in a bay any and all knowledge would be appreciated

Some have the step down your toes
Grip to. When your feet are pulled over the toof the board the seem to get wedged in.
pads have Velcro adjustment on the inside,strings (shoelace style) on outside,pads have built in arch, the rest is pretty much flat(black rubber) except lip on the back heel side about a 1/4 inch
Maybe your straps were too tight . As a beginner they should be pretty loose . You should come out easily on most face plants. Even if you still don't come out of the binding there will be much more give as the board puts a twist like force on your leg . With loose bindings the force does not transfer as much to your knee or ankle. A smaller board would also help .
