Hey all,

I started kiteboarding at the end of last year and am now thoroughly hooked. I currently have a 10meter bws as my only kite, but im looking to get a second kite for those days with stronger winds. I find the 10m bws to be good in anything from 16 to 24knts (im 70ish kg). I'm happy with the kite and would look at getting another bws. should i go the 8 meter or the 6 meter? I have heard the Bws kites are powerfull for their size and I guess that seems true with the 10m i have. idealy one with a wind range that overlaps my 10 meter slightly so like 22knts+ I ride a twin tip on flat water.

Thanks in advance.

Go the 8, that will give you some overlap, the 6 will most likely leave a noticeable gap.

Get an 8m. That's the next wind strength you need to learn.

6m is for insane days.

Actually your pretty light go at least three sizes down 7m.
I'm 87ish kgs have a 12m & 8m which work well + 16m for light days
P.s. I know they don't make em in 7m but there's nothing wrong with going for another brand unless you want to stick with the wave specific only kite

There are heaps of brands out there.
7m would be better if you dont mind moving away from bw.
7 in a switchblade is a good choice, big range and good low end

I kind of like the idea of sticking with bws stuff cause They are cheap and means i can buy just the kite or get a complete one that will give me a spare set of lines. I was looking to go second hand as close to $500 as possible.

reading reviews people say the 6 meter has the power of a 7 meter the 8 meter has the power of a 9 and the 10 is about an 11.
Does anyone know the actual wind range on the 6 and 8 meter bws kites for riding a twin tip?

With the BWS kites- how on the money are there claims about a 10m having as much pull as a12m? I'm getting back into kiting after a 2yr break and am tossing up between one of these kites and a 11m cab switchy.
As for kite size, back in my day if your big kite is a 10, I would be looking at a 7m. You're a lightweight buddy.

I'm 100kg and use 12 and 8m BWS kites with a surf board. It's a big jump and a 10m kite would work better sometimes but I make the 8 work and I prefer to only have the 2 kites. I would think the 6 and 10 would work the same for you. Give BWS an e-mail. I'm sure they'd be happy to make their suggestion and they have some good 2nd hand kites for sale on their site.
