One of my pullys broke while out on the water, anyway as I was wrapping my lines in a windsurfer sailed between me and my kite. Proberly not a good move, as it did'nt work out too well for him.
He must of had plenty of time to aviod me as I had wraped in half of my lines and attached my board to my spare leash. ![]()
Oh, that's pretty stink! Can't have been a very experienced Poley to do that to you!
Most guys would have sailed upwind of you I'm sure. Lets not have another kiters vs poleys debate!
Your lines ok?
To be fair - it's pretty hard to see anything in the water when your sailing... Kiteboards pop up from nowhere right in front of you... But a guy in the water and a kite should be pretty easy to see...
where where you kiting?
Not good. Last season I had a similar experience, nothing had broke but the kite was in the water directly down wind from me, had been there for a few minutes as I was composing myself to try again (was still learning), anyway I had a kiter go between me and the kite. I was not going to let him cut the lines with his board and fins so I lifted the lines out of the water and coat hangered him. Worked well, lines ok and one more crashed kiter. ![]()
Cheers
I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and you were about to sail straight over a windsurfers sail he would be doing more than trying to coathanger you to save his sail. If the intention of the windsurfer was to cut the kiters lines, I would have no hesitation but to act in the same way. If it was infact an oversight on the windsurfers behalf i'm sure a few stern words as the windsurfer is approaching should do the trick. Windsurfers should know better than to sail between a kiter and his downed kite. A little bit of respect between codes is not too much to ask.
I got clothes lined last year while walking up the beach with my kite by a learner, who was kiting near the shore. Not only did i get the line through the neck, but thrown 3m back, then had my own kite kite loop and get thrown over the sand dunes... I got away lucky, a slight line burn to the neck and some brused ribs. But dont wish it on anyone else-it could go so horribly wrong. I have seen kite lines rip through wet suits and skin.
Surely nobody is going to intentionally ride between a kite and the rider? Unless of course they wish to harm themselves more than anyone else?
No doubt it was a brain fade, sun in the eyes or just that the poley didn't know his way around kites (is that so hard to fathom - how much do you know about poles?).
Bet he doesn't make the same mistake again though! ![]()
Mate if I accidently run between your kite and yourself and I see you purposefully raise your lines, you would really really want to eject your kite and swim real fast because it is a calling for the bashing of a lifetime.
It has to be a joke,no one who knows what a kite line looks like would attempt something so stupid ![]()
As if you would coat hanger someone on purpose...???!!!
Has to be joking.....right ?
Kite rage at its worst, kite lines cut like a knife when fully tensioned.
