Can any one tell me if there was much difference between the year models . Thinking of getting the 2012 as this did have above bar trim well that is what i herd .
Need a 8 for in between kite ,11 and 6 is too big of gap .
Ok looks like you can get both above and under bar trim . Was there much of a change between the 12-13 models . Would it be better to get the 12 for cheaper price or pay the extra for the new changes .Yep i know tightass but a few dollars save for a near same kite dosnt seem worth the extra coin .
Thanks in advance
Sam
iv Flown both and can honestly say that i notised not much change . the 2012 has a more direct feel which i liked more.
Do you want one because you have flown it and liked it?
Things to consider, when buying BWS regardless of what they fly like is sizing, build and resale.
The biggest difference which I have noticed is the size of the scuff pads. The earlier ones had big scuff pads and the bridle could sometimes get caught on them when launching if you were not careful. The current model has smaller scuff pads which the bridle can just slide over.
There has only been small incidental changes of the original BWS Noise kite since day 1.
The BWS team are always looking at & testing mods that will improve the kite and several mods have been incorporated into different production runs over the past 2 years.
The only really noticeable one being the introduction of the colour on the wingtips.
Current stock of Noise Kites means that the fastest Noise in the range is now the 8M - the red one!
Essentially there is only 1 Noise kite - the current one.

There are rumours of a new BWS kite release. But this is thought to be an addition to the BWS range. When it happens??? there will be a choice of the current & ongoing BWS Noise & the BWS???? (whatever the new kite is called).
A choice of two styles - each with their own characteristics.
So Im told??? (But dont tell anyone. I think its supposed to be a secret) ![]()
Please test other 8m kites before you make your choice as there are better options for surf in other brands. Ozone reo, Wainmans, Cab/Drifters + others. Do your homework and test test test.
Yep my thoughts too puppet with the 4 poster but i only have few times a year were i get to go to real surf conditions and were i go is mainly around the 18 to 25 hence the 8 (9) meter with good drift down the line riding on 3-6 ft waves if the wind is lower just grab the 11 and boost around . This is why i was looking at bws as it IS wave specific and they are more in my shoe string tight ass budget . Sure there MIGHT be better out there but for just 3-5 times a year at the moment i cant see why i would spend $500 or more on something that will do the job . To be honest i am still in noob mode when it comes to surfing waves with a kite and wouldnt know a better kite if i had one . Yep will get out and demo a few and see which one comes out in the wash (figure of speech but with me it might end up like that)
Any how thanks again for the replys everyone keep them coming .
@ EX & bobjaan
Not an arrogant or paranoid rant at all. But yes I do get p***ed at brand bashing opinions from anonymous posts - esp when its post 4. Pretty obvious to all then it's a disguised new anonymous PIMP login with a hidden agenda.
When you run a kite shop you soon learn that theres a huge range of preferences for different kite features. From one end of the scale to the other on all sorts of features.
EX obviously likes fast for surf - great - so do lots of others. What is arrogant is suggesting that your opinion is right and all others wrong. No one is right or wrong. Its simply a choice thing.
The only "best" kite out there is the "best" kite for you. And the only way to find out whats best for you is to try different kites. On that point EX and I agree completely. Demo as many and as much as you can. It's the only way you will find out what makes a "better" kite. ie "better" for YOU - I might just hate it.
OK - in the warm light of day - and no longer in pain that does make me titchy. (nothing to do with choof)
My apologies to EX - if it is in fact a pure coincidence that it was well intentioned 'advice' was from a genuine 4th poster.
I hope that if that is the case then EX can understand my attitude to the underhand tactics some do use & forgive.
Why is it when ever someone on this forum mentions the BWS Noise kite either as an opinion or a question all hell breaks loose :)
Has Ben Willson and his team stepped on someone's toes? Seems odd ...
So how many of these replies remotely answered his original question about the differences in sizing?
I know the answer to the original question....
Um, JP makes great SUPs and Ozone make some of their kites that have colours on them.
Happy to help.
1.the bridles have changed,
2.The black and white lines from 2012 on are a lot better
3.new above the bar depower is awesome
4.better depower strap
5.new colours
6. same kite
I've owned, and still do a BWS kite and will never buy another one or ride my existing one again, like everyone is saying, try different kites, there are much better kites out there, no offense to Ben and his team, I like his ethos and froth for everyone and the sport, just not the kites. - I had a lot of trouble with it.
my 2 cents worth
I'd have to agree with the dude above. They are decent kites, seen guys ripping on them and loving them, but I didn't connect with this kite in the waves. Much prefer some others. But that was not what the post is about, it is the changes to the kite over the past three years.
But for the price they are a great option for some and I'm sure down the line surfing in indo' they would fit the bill very nicely.
