I have moved to the SW region this year from Perth and looking about for kite boarding action to unite with.
Where is the hot spot?
Any one interested in a downwinder session in Geograph Bay?
Is there any one out there?

Hi dude,

Just come to Australind and you'll find the hot spot. If you like the flat water, that's your spot, but it also good to come around and get to know the local crew.

We kite more often at back beach, bp, binningup, trying to score some waves... but still kite the Australind estuary for fun in the flat.

Trips to Augusta are the go on SE winds...

Geographe Bay you'll need to wait for the winter Nw'lys ... or mornings NE in the summer.

I'm moving to Perth this saturday, so I think I wont see you this time...

Enjoy !

G'day airdude

I am heading downsouth to Dunsborough and Margs for a couple of weeks this Sunday. Also taking a boat down for some wakeboarding if there is no wind...

I'd be keen to check out a few spots if you want, not afraid of a good drive to get to some decent places too.

Cesar, I hear Augusta is an awesome place. Can you shed any more light on it?

Also do the NE'ers blow much in the summer mornings in Geographe Bay, or only on rare occasions?

Cheers!

Hi stylez,

Augusta is probably one of the best spots of the SW for kiting.
You have waves all over jay's beach and the flat water on the river behind the sand dunes. Take small kites down there, it easily blows over 25kts!

You can surf the waves all the way to the rivermounth and then tack into the river for some flatwater blast... just don;t put your kite too low, no wind close to the surface of the water.

I can't say much about the NE in geographe, never sailed them. But I know they happen, just keep an eye on the forecasts. You can also kite on SE, W and E in the bay, but don't know if it is any good.

Enjoy your trip mate!

Hey Mate,

Yeah Australind is the go for meeting other kiters. Nice flat water and a good area for launching/landing just north of the BP servo on old coast road. There's always a few crew down there if there's wind around.

If you're into downwinders there's a fun one to do from pelican point back to Australind. There's a couple of us that do that every now and then when its windy on the weekends

Cya soon

Yeah, good ol Australind. mate I used to live in Bunbury and when the surf was flat which is 6months of the year, I used to wind surf the bullets comming thru. Is it still gusty, pick the gust and you get some some high launches of em. Went back last year got some wind at Augusta without anybody. I thought it was strange when I vcan easily grab 6 of us for a downwinder (QLD). Then back to Margs where I found 3 kiters and the rest windsurfers. I noticed the wind moved direction out there !!....And as for Busselton, well I grew up there. I took my wife out on the jetty and by the time I got out to the observatory the wind was racing in at least 20 knots, eager to get back to my gear, the wind on the beach was only 10 knots at the most...dissapointed !! Yeah I heard busso can be fickle as my brother told me. But hey that's my experience.
