Going to have to disagree. Kites without pulleys will never be able to adapt to wind gusts, bar changes and turn without distorting the canopy as well as a kite with pulleys.
I would say the brands that get it right are the ones making pulleys with safety/ back up systems should the pulley brake (Saw them on the new Naish kites, other brands??)
Predominant unhooked riders would like a kite without pulleys as the inefficiency in the kite to adjust and grab the wind at certain angles is not as good, creating 'slack' for handle passes etc. With some possible canopy flapping, jellyfishing, less bottom end as a trade off.
whoa, touchy!
Wasnt talking about pure C-Kites (thought we are talking about bridled kites?).
So simply- pulleys will be smoother, adapt to gusts better (it's just physics, sorry boys can do much about that). However, they will continue to pull through unhooked tricks. So choose your kite accordingly. Surely that cant upset anyone. Probably will, cracks me up.
Dont want to get off topic that Stjepan started, but in response to the 'angrys'..
yep, C-kites serve their purpose extremely well. Had a SS Octane (the original C-kite version), thought it was great. Also like the Fuels, Torch etc. No doubt if unhooked is your thing then this is the way to go. Fair chance I will be back on one in the future. But since I'm getting on, I currently like delta C's as they give you a bit of both worlds and only needing to pump up a 9m kite in 12 knots appeals to me. If you can still ride, jump, unhook without stalling in 12 knots on a 9m /10m Razor, then I'm keen to give it a crack!
Back on topic. Companies who are doing it right are those who are making bridled kites safe. Clearly I personally like pulleys on "bridled kites". I have seen Naish use a new safety pulley, I dont ride them, but I think they are doing it right!
GET A WAINMAN KIKE!!!!!
TAKE OFF THE BRIDAL AND GO SINGLE LINE.
YOU'LL NEVER LOOK BACK.
SOAK'S UP THE GUSTS, TURNS ON A DIME!!!
SAY NO MORE!!
The brand that has it right is the brand I'm having fun on. Don't care what the setup is as long as I come in with a grin and in one piece.
