how far up does the surf life saving club use the beach between theses two spots, looks about 3 ks long between the two locations, the spot looks like a nice place to kite, less chop than pp had yesturday
, i wonder why no one kites there?
didnt see any restrictions apart from no dogs. is it just because its a longer walk than others spots or do the lifesavers use that beach for running and such, about 1.5 ks up from mullaloo?
.. not sure but it might be because there actually isn't much wind there, sheltered by Pinaroo Point. I'm sure Kitehard could say if this is right or wrong .... ![]()
i know of the wind shadow where the windsurfers tend to play near the kitersurfers at pinnaroo, the spot im talking about is much further down with a clear line of sight upwind so no potential wind shadows to be seen, in anycase was more than enough wind when i check it out. so dont think its wind shadows unless yesturday wasnt the normal wind direction, it seemed seabreezy? or does perth wind usualy have a more southerly too it?
Hey Cwamit,
The local guidelines can be found on the WAKSA site > locations > Mullaloo/Pinaroo Point but basically you can kite right along, with the exception being the area each side of the Surf Club and at least 250mtr out in front of it. There is a water ski area inbetween PP and the Surf Club (marked with yellow bouys) as well but this is not normally in use when the wind is up.
The wind shadow can extend right down to the surf club if there is a lot of South in it but on a normally seabreeze, as it pretty much was yesterday I think, it is not really a problem the wind can just be a little bit light right on the shore line.
Herd mentality just seems to kick in for most for some reason, perhaps they like an audience.

Edit: Darren is quick isn't he.
Sounds like you're talking about the "Pinaroo Triangle".
Don't drop your kite in there and you'll be fine.
