Pretty much all in between there is awesome.
Noosa has it all; good flat water, good beachies, points if there is swell, fancy restaurants, all levels of accomm.
Next best maybe cotton tree, I do like to spend most of summer there.
Down winders between noosa and coolum are a good start with busses running every half hour
Noosa rivermouth must be the last half of a runout tide with ne wind
pm if u stay up this end ..
Nearly everybody that kites in the waves does downwinders
If you come across a good bank with waves can hang there for a bit a ride then move on down the coast still you find another bank
Strong southernly winds tend to bring the biggest swell
Northernly winds bring the best conditions {nice glassy flatwater between the whitewash and swell } but tends to kills the swell
Low tide is better than high tide
There are 3 main areas for doing downwinders
Sunshine or Castaways down to Coolum
Yaroomba to Mudjimba or Cotton Tree
And S Mends at Kawana down to Dicky Beach Currimundi
This is for a North wind,in a south wind its the reverse
My favourite DW is Sunshine down to Cotton Tree, only need to go round 1 headland
But if Im feeling energitic will do Sunshine to Currimundi
Then just roll up your kite and lines and wrap your harness around it and jump on the bus back to where you started
for flatwater spots Noosa Rivermouth in a N to E winds and Caloundra Rivermouth in SE winds both need a runout tide for best conditions
Maroochy River mouth can be good but most of the time it has big holes in the wind, due to the wind coming over the beach, best on a run out tide
Noosa,Cotton Tree,Mooloolabah and Caloudra and the main accomadation places
For surfing Noosa points and Noosa Rivermouth can get really good in a south wind and the beach breaks on the open beaches in NW to SW winds early morning usually
Give me a PM if you want anymore info or if you want to hookup for a DW
Just got back from a double downwinder
Yaroomba to Cotton Tree
First run underpowered on the 9m
Second run overpowered on the 9m ![]()
