Kites Surfing gear is just like home theater
It is possible that TDK or Yamaha making the best amplifiers but the best speakers are Bose or JBL.
There are some goooood kites in the market and there are some good control bars
I'm thinking about buying them separately
Which bar is your favorite bar and why?
Best 2007 Bar...simple.. comfy.. great control.. no silly bobbly balls or cleat mechanisms.. just a bar.. simple.. the way it should be.

Best bar for kite control hands down, but not particularly practical or relevant these days...
I don't know about that but they look like Nunchucks to me and there a few lowlifes hanging around Perth beach carparks whose heads I would like wrap those handles around....

From where is that LF picture?
The leash end on the depower knob is the end I attach to my harness.
2 Benefits.
1. When a lot of the depower line is trimmed, the release doesn't swing around.
2. To release, I pull it away from the harness. There will always be resistance to activate the release.
I currently use the LF CPR set up on another bar that I already had. It is nice.
It is recommended (by some) to run the leash through the Chicken loop so it won't get lost. I did for a long time, but it has never been an issue and seems unlikely to become one.
No need for the mini 5th line though IMHO.
Also, I use a different stopper. I lost an '08 Havoc because of one. Basically, after deploying to the safety (as shown in the picture), the depower line pulled in all the way, causing the bar to go up as usual. Under load, the stopper was pinched between the pulley (block) and the bar. The problem was that the LF stopper's pointy bottom jammed between the depower lines in the hole of the bar. It all torqued out as I was being pulled away from land. (Not offshore winds, I had a mile of side shore, but couldn't un-wedge the damn thing in time.
It pissed me off to no end when the shop riders said that they had that happen to them, so they all ride suicide. Their distributor acknowledged it had happened to him too.
LF's final say was that I shouldn't have been on a 16m in 20-25kts. A year and a half later, my distributor gave me the LF CPR upgrade kit out of his own pocket.
I guess the new stopper was made to work with the new hole in the bar.
I have a floating ball under my current stopper. If I want to, I put it between my index and middle fingers when I ride one handed. No chafe on my fingers or gloves from sheeting in and out.
This wouldn't work with the LF stopper.

Yeah sorry about the pic, found it under google search, i realised as soon as i posted it the tool had the safety leash around the wrong way :)
I also have taken out the small 5th line and don't bother with the leash through the chicken loop.
I haven't seen the BWS bar up close in person but to me it looks very much similar set up to what LF have been running for a few years now.
Also agree with the pimping comment, the Len10 bar is far from clutter free and easy to use.
I like the 09 Naish Torch bars that I'm currently using.
I think for it's day the Gaastra control bar from 05 was really good, I used quite a few others even a a few years later and fund them horrible by comparison.
D
Any bar that has the plastic covering on depower rope and safety line. Cabs obviously but I laid eyes on an ozone bar down the beach the other day with the covering on the rope, but not on the landing line. It puzzles me cause the cabs rectified this problem in 09 as the landing line was wearing out due to no plastic covering
I'm gonna go with the only bar Ive ever used, being the SLE bars for the Airush kites...
4 lines, depower clam cleat and a chicken loop/donkey dick. Seems all you need...
I've only flown a couple others but I really like the 2010 North Trust bar. All the bits work the way they should and the materials are top notch. If i did have one gripe, it's that with the depower line pulled in it tends to get tangled around the front/5th lines. There is velcro on the sliding stopper to keep it stowed but it doesn't hold too well. I don't really know how they could improve it though.
All the more reason to come in and get on a smaller kite anyway I suppose.
I'd have to agree with apathetic - I've used airush bars (pre smart bar), core, ozone and north. My fave is the 2010 north - simple, functional and just feels right in your hand. The chicken loop and iron heart safety is top notch. I've held onto this bar.
***warning - noob question***
Can you mix and match bars with kites? (i.e. airush bar with liquid force kite?)![]()

you can put any bar with any kite as long as the lines are the right length..
And I'm liking the 2011 Cabrinha bar...
Hi Guys,
Not exactly correct, some bars will work on other kites but the reverse can sometimes not work.
Any kite with a flagging single front line will work on any kite, however, any delta style kite that uses pulleys and a "Y" front line can only be used on similar style kites ie Core, EVO, Lithium, Varial, MrF, Bandits etc as they flag a single front which connects to both front lines, which then flag by using pulleys on the kites bridle.
If you used a Core, Airush Smart Bar or North Quad Bar on a Catalyst or C4 for example, then when you flag out, the kite will not land but will fly off the front lines and be unable to properly flag out.
Be careful mixing and matching bars with fifferent kites as it can be a BIG MISTAKE when things go wrong.
Ask a shop keeper or a knowledgable instructor who knows kites and bar systems to help you if you aren't sure.
Cheers,
DM
BTW: New Contact Bar of Ozone is da bomb! Clean, simple, functional and comfortable!
Flexifoil 07 bar from the Ion2
Brightly coloured, simple quick release.
Trim strap above the bar
No Floats
Not soft
LF bars from 07-10 on the havoc are so simple and easy but have no swivel for the middel line so you have to unhook and twist your chicken loop around, the cleats go pretty quick and the rope frays. but apart from that its simple ![]()
I'm only talking about the 2011 bars
So far I've tried the new Naish, Slingshot, Core & North
Slingshot was better than the rest
