WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS: Lifeguards have closed a Cairns northern beach to swimmers after a crocodile was spotted near stinger nets this morning.
A fisherman alerted authorities after seeing the croc, believed to be up to 3m long, lurking in waters just off Yorkeys Knob.
Surf Life Saving Queensland regional manager Colin Sparkes said the beach would remain closed to swimmers until lifeguards were certain the croc had moved on from the area.
Breaking news?
That was two days ago.....
Mind you, crocs are everywhere round Yorkeys, best to go to Port Douglas. Better wind, better crew and no crocs ![]()
I always thought that there was one permanently living near the creek mouth south o the launch area. Just keep a look out
