Hey Peeps,

It seems that over the years I have developed a nostalgic notion and have started collecting pre 2005 kitesurf pieces. All of the kites and board I have are in very good condition but many have needed a total valve replacement to see them fly again. Currently I have a 2001 WIPIKA Freeair 7.1, a 2003 Naish Aero II 10m, a 2004 Naish 14m V4, a 2003 Cabrinha CO2 and a 2005 Airush Reactor 9m.

In addition to these kites, the collection also includes the Liquid Force Jimmy Lewis Picklefork 151 and a 2002 Airush Pulley bar

I would love to add an original 1998/99, 2 line WIPIKA 5m if I can find a good one with the 2-line bridle.

How many people on this site remember flying any of these kites?

You might find one on ebay with a title of something like........ "Great beginners kite"

Still have a an 03 6 metre Naish Aero 2 . My first ever inflatable as well as several turn of the century Peter Lynn Arcs . They would make good trailer tarps I think.

My 11 metre Wipika Matrix (05 ?) is still a favourite of mine in the right conditions. It's fairly forgiving at the high end of it's wind range.

My first kite was a 9m (1999 / 2000 ??) Cab R3, two liner. She was a killer. I never made it upwind. The mylar LE disintegrated, before I did . An 8m Ero saved my life (and my belief that I would ever get it).

I reckon the picklefork will make a comeback... that board was deadly, i recall waiting for the ambulance holding someone's artery after they copped it in the neck.

the wipika and the naish aero were my first four line kites. depower - game changer!

The pond was a lot quieter too

Actually the 840's of which I have 3 , turned well for me with the standard length bar. You could further improve turning speed by fitting pigtails that wrapped around the carbon spar . I never had to do this.

The 1120 was ok too but had a narrow wind range. You couldn't do much with it when the top end was exceeded. It just lifted you straight up. I still have one.

The 630 was a fun kite until it slammed shut on you like a clam when you were ripping along quute nicely. I don't have one of those anymore.

Don't knock it till you've tried it

Hey Darren
I've got a 5m wipika from 1999.
I changed the bladders in 09 to give it fly, but probably need fixing again now.
Also got a naish ar3 and a naish virus if you want to try them as well.
Impressed you've still got a LF picklfork that's still alive. Those things didn't last long , I think I broke 3 before the warranty ran out.

Hi Steve,

Yep, very interested in the AR5 and WIPIKA. I'll catch up with you at the beach soon.

I still have an Ampol Umbrella from 1993. It should still work as a wing-ding thing
Oh and it was the first without the use of lines. Just one simple handle. Total control!

Hey Darren

I have a Slingshot GTO 2001 (I think) with the angry gargoyle on it in mint condition. Never gonna use it and no point only having one if you are not going to collect any more.

PM me if you are interested. It's about time I came into the shop and bought more stuff!!!!!
