Split my Tona Pop along the bottom under the left foot pad. Still rides fine, bloody good board.

Does anyone know if the core in the Tona Pop will absorb water?

Worth patching up??? or just leave it as is....

The core is wood, pawlonia, which will absorb some water and swell, so will need to be fixed or binned. Fixing it is a biggish job, you have to grind away 3cm minimum either side of the crack, better if you grind away 3=4cm and feather out to 5-6cm either side and then patch with glass and epoxy.
Unless you are really handy with that sort of thing and already have the repair materials and tools, you'd be better off economically to make a garden seat out of it and buy a new one.

Just pulled the insert on mine.
f***ing love the pop too!

you will have to let it air dry for a few days.
2 days minimum
but 3-4 days for best results.

make sure you use good quality epoxy resin, not some cheap crap.
any marine store or chandlery will have the good stuff. ($50-$100)
worth having in the shed anyway.

ive no idea how to do the grind base however??

to make it structurally sound, you will have to remove any & all broken, cracked, fractured sections.

sand it all out & clean it.
any loose material will create less bond.

i also used an epoxy sealer before the resin.
this just gave it a waterproof seal. It's nicer, but not necessary.

once you've filled with resin and dried for 48hours (takes a bit longer to cure depending on weather/humidity).... Then sand back and resin overflow.

you could glass over it too if you want to reassure its strength.

but I've no idea on the grind base. It may look a little gawd ugly, but if you do the job properly and don't rush it, it'll be just as strong.

my insert repair was pretty bad, but the board is still going hard. I've replaced it with a FLOW, but it's still sitting there with no boots on waiting for the demise of the POP.

think KP has a few of the pink Floyd POP on special.
($350 I think)
at that sorta price it's worth buying 2 so that you're covered in the board department until 2027!!!

if you need help with the repair just PM me and I will fwd you the right materials etc!

I emailed Tona, they replied in like 25 minutes.

They suggested the epoxy method and Ptex candle for any base repairs.

Again..... Just spend the money and get the good quality epoxy.
youll only need a smidge, but it's worth having it the shed.
dont buy some cheap Bunnings crap!!!!!!

let me know how you go with the P-Tex.
going to do some reading up now, but I'm intrigued?
could be useful to know in the future!

i love my 142POP.
im a heavy rider, and every other 141+ board I've had flexs far too much and feels sloppy.
my first day on the POP I realised "this is how a board should feel!".....
Wouldnt buy anything else now!!

im gunna go on a limb and say it's not going to be a very big memorial!!

What cable board, ive a tao hybrid core that im trying to repair a hole in. It runs through the channel. Epoxy, ptex, areldite all fall out. Thinking might just sikaflex and keep the water out be a bit grippy but running.out of options.
