i guess its just smart marketing, everyone always wants the new looking thing, well almost everyone. though i think most of their pro riders still use the Torch, which even the biggest anti naish rider out there still must respect its performance and results. hence the drift again towards C's from other hybrid/bow manufacturers of late. Anyone can pimp as much as they like but manufacturers will build what sells, their in it for cash, even old Robby has to admit that.

There are people out there that swear by wacky shapes. The bandit was kinda wacky when it came out and now its so cool everyone is making a bandit shape kite (Best, Takoon, North etc).

Personally I found the sigma's decent, but they were slower than cancer. The alliance turned fast but had no bottom end. You could take the 12m out in 35 knots but what's point when I can fly a small faster kite anyway?

there is a difference between a "worlds worst kite" and a kite you simply can't handle.

Whoever said the Rhino 2 is misguided.

That was a great kite, extreamly powerfull, stable for the era, massive air machine and its very small wind range, once again was not out of place for that era, 2004.

Mind you after 3 seasons the old girls LE blew apart and was fixed 7 times before it became a flag.

I rate that kite as one of the "World Greatest Kites"... hmm next thread...

Anything that inverts - the TD1 was so bad for this. Great kite otherwise but inverting 10 times in a session is not much fun.

The point would be that not everyone wants a kite in high winds that's twitchier than a terrier puppy on crack. Besides, the boosts from a 12m kite in those winds..... well, let's just say that now I'm thinking about it, I need some alone time.

What about the 09 Rebel folds in half especially when it hits the water.
Does not matter how hard you pump it up she still loves clapping those wing tips together.I still don't understand with all the testing they do kite companies can still release dud kites and **** me at 2000.00 smackeroos and you would think they would get it right.

With the amount of punishment I see most our locals putting their gear through, i dont see how you can point the finger at one paticular brand. All kites will distort or crash in unusual positions at some stage.

Well then Arsa maybe you can explain why the 08 Rebels did not do this and the 09's flap around like a seagull without a head.Maybe it has to do with a thing called a centre strut.
Remember those crappy Cabrinha Contra's I lost count how many times the stitching was coming off on the leading edge and the poor quality of materials Cab used let alone the kite was a pig in the air as well.

I agree - my 11.5 AR5 was awesome at the time. I loved that kite.

I still have a 7m AR3.5. and a 9.5m ARX in the garage. I have been meaning to take them out for a spin. the 7m is 4 lined - I have lost the 2 line bridle.

Found this pic of me on the AR5.

I cant explain anything about the Rebel 09's cuase I havent flown one. Maybe you should test gear out before buying it. Im sure every kite in the market suits someone, but is it the right one for you.

i have seen the pop on impact to the water, torn in half by small waves, stitching very ratty.
why, is it poor build quality, or is it that the kooks buy them???

Its just my opinion, thats what the thread is all about. Compared to the Wipika Airblast, they were aweful.
I remember being almost nailed by one becasue it was so prone to luffing, it was a 7.5AR5, and the bigger ones turned so slow, compared to airblast.
Bar was rubbish. Leading edge was inside out mylar, that burst if you looked sideways at it, glad they are long gone.
I'm sure lots of people have fond memories of them, I don't.

Not sure of the criteria you guys are applying here, but some of those choices may have some very dubious reasoning.

"early Liquid force kites" were simply the year before Wipika designs, so to can the 2 line LF was saying the same about the Freeair, and their first 4 line was an Airblast.

"Wipika Classic" why bother putting that on a list it was the first and without peer when it came out. Doesn't that make it the best?

The Wipika NSK "tarp" kite was an attempt to get a near indestructible kite for the use of schools only and should never be thought of as a kite for general sale. for sure they were utterly unflyable for nearly all people and conditions and that was the end of them. but is that really what this thread is aiming at.

I think some are just trying to put in a big list V's a real list.

But for those that might know. the Eclipse Chamelion should be on the list.

there was something I saw once called a Champion kite and made of mono film, that should be on the list. and the LINK gets my vote as the biggest botch up due to over eager release dates.

why and how am i jumping on a bandwagon?
this thread is called "Worlds Worst Kites", and in my opinion, Best probably do make the worlds worst kites (coming from a major brand that is).
if you ride Best, well im sorry to offend you. however, this is a forum so I am allowed to express my 'point of view'.

For a while there I thought you were redeeming yourself..................
Nah, you are just talking brand bashing sh1t
Best have had a couple of flops (backed up by excellent customer service though), and a lot of winners, especially since 07.
Thats just my opinion of your opinion, ok?

Which model Contra are we talking, I still have my 06 (hybrid/pre bow) Contra and I think it's one of the better light wind kites I've flown.

does this mean you are not a kook because you dont buy them or I am a kook because I love them

Lets be honest, all kites have there pros an cons but how many of the manufactures
will give you a replacement if it is a dodgy friday kite.

So what model an year Best kite are ya talking about anyway ?
I have owned every model waroo since 06 an have very few complaints

Haha.

i was actually thinking of Blownaway when i wrote that post.
i spose his an exception though.
and you are right, i have heard the product support is great.

however i had owned a 9m 07 waroo. and i didnt like it. for a 9m kite it was quite slow and it did the 'jellyfish' in high winds, which certainly turned me off them.

i have found my favourite kite elsewhere, so im happy!

I haven't used that many kites but by far the worst I could ever imagine was the early model cabrina black tip when it first came out around 01. The bladders all were shocking and fell apart in less than 6 months or so. They seemed fine at first, and a bit of a novelty not having to choose between wikis and naish, so I passed a few to a mate. Then shortly after they all started just falling apart. A few places exchanged the bladders over but a lot of hassle before then. Especially if you had just gone on a kiting holiday with a bunch of them with no shops nearby. Disaster kites.

Worst kite i've ever owned:

North Rhino 2 10m. The wind range on this kite was a joke. I bought it for
20 - 30 knots but it just couldn't hold any topend. My Rhino 1 12m could hold more!

Best kite i've ever owned:

North Rhino 2 10m. When the wind was right, nothing that came before or since can compare with the jumping ability of this kite. What a machine[}:)] I miss it
