50th, to distance a memory for me. Hope you enjoy the day Mr Shot.
It won't be to long now before the next morning lets you know your real age.
I still try to live up to the saying "go hard or go home" just seem that I go home abit earlier than I use to.![]()
I had a good session a few months ago and was feeling like you (feeling a lot younger than I'm am ) Until a guy in he's mid 20's come up to me and said "I hope I'm kiting at your age". Bought me back to earth pretty quick.
Dont be brought back to earth HAAK - we are the inspiration !
I was surfing the Bono tidal bore in Sumatra when I turned 50

As above started kiting about 16 yrs ago (depower did not exist and locally directional were the beginners board) so I hope to be at his 80th as I may be a bit older.
Good luck with that, I clocked in for the half ton on the 4th. Took the day off, weather report was looking good, 30+ knots and 2 metre swells at the local. Arrived at the beach, air temp 11 degrees plus wind-chill, driving rain etc. No-one out kiting but a few young dudes sitting in the comfort of their cars. Decided to show them up , man-up and take on the crap weather. Launched the kite and on the way out it started hailing, couldnt even see where I was going, the cold front went over and wind went 90 degrees and died to sub 10. Just made it in down the beach and had the walk of shame home. Forecast had the front going over 12 hours later than it did.
No happy birthday kite session for me!!
I got a magic midweek session a week later to make up for it. Only benefit to getting older is that its easier to bail out of work at short notice. Most of the midweek kiters seem to be older guys.
Enjoy you day whatever happens.![]()
Well I had the best kite session yesterday on my new Temavento Race Board in 14 years of kiting.
Had my 13M Edge out in 12 knots glass off at Melville waters!
Just one other Kiter (Kahmil) & myself!!
Always wanted to go out when the wind was WNW which allowed me to follow Melville beach parade and end up following the land all the way past the rugby fields and into that estuary( not sure if were allowed in there)!!
Stayed out till after sunset, spoke to Kahmil after and he mentioned he & a mate launch at Point Walter & kite ova to Melville at 9pm where they leave their cars! So that's my next adventure NITE KITING anyone keen?
