Hi,
I recently got a warranty replacement board (2014 deck only). I noticed when switching over the fins from my old board that the new model (in photos) comes with fin washers as a complete. My old 2012 doesn't have washers, so I don't have any to put on the new 2014 deck.
Do I need washers? What do they do?
Thanks!

In general, they spread the load over a bigger area, reducing local stress and the potential for cracking or damage around the screw holes.
More manufacturers are following suit and using them now. It came about as a result of the laminates becoming thinner in the tip areas.
If the 2014 model does have washers, then it would be a good idea to contact whoever (shop or manufacturer) you got it from, to get some, so you can fit them to your new deck.
I’d put them on to spread the load like Subculture said, as well the washer reduces the risk of bottoming out the screw. Make sure you use stainless so you don’t get rust marks on your board. Probably looking at 20 cents each at Bunnings.
Edit: That's assuming the screws are not countersunk...
