Hi ,

I have started this question on Facebook and on other kiteforumsand it went completely MAD with the answers.

Now I could not resist to ask the same question on this BIG Kiteforum with all the upcoming kiters and the most experienced ones .

So! Why did you start with Kiteboarding?

Is it the sensation of flying or to be independent expressing yourself on the water?

Tell me and express yourself.

Nah, not quite right hook, it was the shorts over the wet suits that got me sucked in.

For me its the sensation of being out in the elements, the wind and the water.
The sound of the air rushing past me, the sound of the water against the board.

While I'm kite boarding I don't think of anything else. I can just exist doing what I love.
Its the freedom as well. I don't need a boat, I don't need a car. Just the wind provided for me by nature.

Because I'd already tried
abseiling
backgammon
croquet
darts
elephant hunting
fencing
golf
hang gliding
ice hockey and
jousting

kitesurfing was the logical progression!

After years of sailing yachts and dinghies I was looking for something:
- fun
- can do solo & don't need to rely on unreliable crew not turning up
- doesn't take up a whole day (packing/unpacking yachts)
- doesn't need a trailer/takes up the whole car space
- quick to rig up (vs a dinghy)
- easy to do when travelling
- cheap (well not really but cheaper than say a windsurfer)

Because I like to tell everyone how much better my equipment is than theirs.

I couldn't do that in elephant hunting out croquet.

What sorting weirdo would red thumb this mans glorious intent of Sun , Wind , Water and Hot women in bikini's?

The mind boggles at the mentality of the hidden lurking silent red thumbers!....

On a side note.

The amount of hot chicks in bikinis exponentially diminishes with the increase of wind speed. Anything tight, pert and scantally clad have all been sand blasted off the beach by the time 30 knots rolls around.

Very true with increase in wind speed , but they (hot women in bikinis)make up for it on those bad forecast days when your sitting on the beach waiting for a breeze !

True.... Also an argument for busting out landboard and repeatidly going backwards are forwards past the scenery...... Not that i would do that for that express purpose you understand..... ... ... .. . . . . . . .
