Someone please correct me if I am wrong but as far as I am aware no-one in Australia sells Eclipse, they are available via http://www.kiteboardingshop.co.nz/.

I was sent over some demo Nano's and Kima's to try and have been very impressed with them, particularly for waveriding as they are very fast turning and drift back really well.
I haven't tried the Thrusters yet.

I'm fairly sure it is an 08 Nano that SOS have.

Hey thanks guys

Does anyone in Perth have an 12m Eclipse Thruster I can demo ?

Tightlines

thanks for the pm. The various world net forum reviews are all saying that 'high altitude nose bleeds' are an unfortunate side effect of this kite lol

Cheers

I'm not going to argue, you are entitled to your opinion, but are you comparing apples to apples though, ie are you talking about an 09 Thruster as I notice you have an 08 for sale.
I owned 08 and 09 Bandits and yes the 10 DOS did jump well, better than last years 9 or 11 (more hangtime), and I'm sure the 09 Thruster is better than the 08 was aswell.

Hi guys,

To the best of my knowledge, there is only one 09 Thruster in Australia. I sold the preproduction demo kites I had all to the one buyer in Sapphire Bay on the East Coast. He bought the 12m Thruster, 9m Nano and 6m Kima. Perhaps the new owner can give you some info ..... Jeff????

The Thruster 12 does go fairly big, similar to many other 09 kites. Last I heard there still was hassles with the supply of Thrusters I did a review on the 09 Thruster ages back, if you do a search I'm sure it'll come up. Search around October 08.

Good winds,

irregardless of what you may have been told in regards the 09 thruster, I was involved somewhat in discussions about what was to change for 09.

essentially it was the bridle settings to improve relaunch. all other R&D efforts were in the Kima which is exactly a 6m 08 Nano with resizing once they figured out canopy tensioning etc. to allow going bigger with 3 struts.

what I said above was my opinion and I may well get similar results from Rebels and Rev etc.
timed right (once you get the timing sorted) the Eclipse Thruster will bossy up there with all the recognized big boosters. but be prepared for a violent skyward acceleration. I enjoyed that. but when going to my 10m Bandit Dos, I found it to boost just as high and hang just as well, but with more control. this equates to a higher percentage of Timed jumps.

I also am of the opinion that technique is the key and am yet to see anywhere on the beaches I have kited jumps such as Lou used to pull on 2 line Classics.

well maybe Len10.

Actually Lou and Elliot used to do their biggest boosting on 4.9m Flexifoil Blades on 40m lines. How many actually remember that

Good winds,

I remember sitting on some sandstone looking rocks at a beach called Sprecks watching the windsurfers, and this dude called Fadi Issa comes and sits next to me. He made mention of them playing with 40m lines for big boosting, I came back and tried 2 sets of lines (2 x 28m) on my 8.4 Airblast. Only tried it once.

You didn't understand something back then though and you probably know better now, 56M lines are simply too long, especially on a 4 line Airblast.
40M lines and an older style inflato was also a lot of line to carry, the smaller kites like the Free Air 6.5 and the Naish 7.0 AR3.5 could do it ok in strong winds, but extreme care needed to be used to avoid involuntary kite loops.
The Blades were designed for long lines, they were at least half the weight of those old inflatos and did not turn so erratically, and had huge lift.

Power kiting on land had been going on for a decade or more before kites started to be used on the water in Hawaii. Using 40M lines was very common, thats where the idea came from. Jason Furness from Flexi showed Elliot and Lou what Blades were and what they could do, back in the day!

Cya and

Goodwinds

Steve
