Do you just want the kite to be fast? Where are you riding, what are the conditions like, how much do you weigh, what kind of tricks can you do at the moment, and what are you looking to progress to?

You're asking these questions as if one can actually give an answer to the original question....

The best kite, like the 'best' of any depreciating asset, is the one that's not going to cost you a bucket load of money for very little improvement in functionality, most commonly the one you already own.

Well I'm 85kgs spending a fair amount of time on my 12m north evo in 17-25 knots but it turns sooo slowly I call it the truck and I want a kite to react a bit quicker when I'm doing tricks

I found the c4 to need a fair bit more wind than other kites. i recon they are really over rated but some people love them.

How are they "over rated"?? haha. I haven't heard or seen that many people riding or raving about them to be honest...You need to be more specific when you say "other kites" although you're making a valid point, your point without reference isn't valid to anyone.I find C4 to work in the same wind as Razor, Torch, Fuel or any other C-kite... I would love it if it was underpowered though, it would just mean I could use a bigger slower turning kite .

yeh your right c kites all need a fair bit of wind, i guess i know a few people with c4's and people on the forums love them too so i had pretty high expectations. ive only demoed a few c kites and not many sessions on them but i demoed the chaos and c4 back to back and i thaught the chaos was way better. i have also had a quick go of a mates fuel and i was into that also but that was a few months earlier so i cant really compare. yeh i love being on my biggest kite too. i do love the feel and slack of c kites but the wind range is what kills them for me. i dont recon i could get away with just having 2 kites. i havent had a propper session on a vegas but i recon they would be a good kite.

Maybe the conditions you demoed the C4 in weren't that great as well? In my opinion the C4 is a lot better than the Chaos and is actually the reason I started riding for Ozone and not Cabrinha... People have their own ideas about what they like in a kite though.9 and 12 C4 would get you as much useable wind range (being able to unhook) as any other 2 kite combo. Sadly there is no such thing as a magic kite that has awesome un-hooked range. Some are slightly better than others though, bridals and 5th line do tend to be slightly better than those without, C4 is as good as any though in the "range" department.Choosing a kite in my opinion should just be based on what you like the feel of. Try some stuff out and if it works for you buy it.

i find my 11m razor has an awesome low end, im 78kg and ride 138 tona pop, and with a run out tide i can use my 11m really well in 12knots!!

The main reason i didnt like the c4 was probably because i wasnt used to it. thats why im not a big fan of demoing kites because your not really gonna like anything at first. i got rpm's without demoing just went off reviews. i ended up loving them straight away tho.

^You're right and usually you will love whatever type of kite you are used to already. Ultimately though you need to choose something that matches your style and the way you ride.I tried to ride the RPM for a time, but for me doing freestyle even after a few months I just couldn't ride well on it, it just doesn't slack at all. For waveriding/ wakeskating I found it to be a pretty nice kite.

The 7m scares me a little, my hands are still a little heavy when throwing mobes, and the 7 shots across the sky at lightning speed and Faaarks me up. But it's an absolute weapon, not that I get to use it every often.

Back to the subject on "best freestyle kite" I love my airush razors, but 1 kite I would actually like to give ago is the switch kite combat!! Any1 had a go on It!

How does that show that? Seeing as though we ride the same setting. hahaha. I get your drift though.
