But it has me wondering - who has old gear laying about that they've never used - or who ACTUALLY USES old kiting gear on a regular basis?
I spent a day last week flying a 2 line Naish, i had a ball! Attracted some pretty weird looks and comments as I pumped it up, but was great none-the-less.
The next day i went for a spin on an old Naish Sky Pirate - had a blast slashing about and trying to gybe the super narrow thing.
I regularly fly a 16m Octane (The old ones) as my light wind kite, and its one of my favorites i've ever flown... Old Rhino's, Yargas etc line my shed because I seem to collect the cool stuff, fly it occasionally and then hang it on the wall till me next nostalgic day comes along.
So what cool stuff have you got? And who wants to donate to the Rhys's kite museum fund and upgrade to something new?

i still regularly fly an 05 15m fuel. the rest of my quiver consists of 06 and 07 fuels.
what sort of discounts are you offering on trade-ins rhys?

Rhys Got a 12m and 7m Cab 2003 CO2, they live in the garage as the 12 nearly lofted me away when I was starting out and I don't want to sell sell it to a newbie.
Funny story though - as a newbie started drifting away, an asian guy grabbed me, we kept drifting, a big american guy grabbed the asian guy, pulled us to the ground. Gave me a few comments about being a tosser (%#@***#) and that I had the wrong gear for safety. I took it on the chin, changed my gear and have not looked back. And I now take the same approach to ignorants like I was (but I had spent $800 on lessons).
I keep the Cab as a spare, and fly it for fun when or if my other kites need repair. The 7 is a great little kite that I have modified with a dodgy 5th line. Still nothing beats the way my 10.5 core sits and waits for me in the sky like and old friend when I get smashed. So if you want the Cabs (no tree work) talk to me about a price on somethying like a small demo core (<8m)
if only we could get the old crusty guys off seabreeze and put them into the garage.

I think I can help you here with your collection.
I thought that since KP is offering such huge discounts on new current model kite gear that I might be able to help the cause and at the same time try and cash in as well!
Here is a list of some old kite gear that I have that I am willing to sell to people who may not have any of their own old gear to trade in with KP
All I want is $100 for the kites and $50 for the boards.

How about I drive to Lukes and pick out which ever old kite I like :) then i'll take it home, you can give Luke $100, and us $1500 - then BAM! 2011 model 12m Switchblade for $1600
Or even a Rally? Just swapped an 02? Naish Aero 1 and $1450 for a 12m Slingshot Rally My collection is gonna be AWESOME!

Retro kite day would be good....
But not gonna donate the torque to disadvantaged kids,, its EVIL,, tried to kill me few months back,, no depower,, think its possed...
But geez its great fun though! Until you wake up in the sand dunes......
