As far as I know, the purpose of developing kitesurfing is to integrate traditional kitesurfing into surfing, to increase dynamics and beauty. So what are the advantages of kitesurfing?

Having all your gear in the boot and no one knows you kite...Unlike windsurfers who have to tow a tradies van full of gear...sup people who have big boards on roof racks...and surfers who have mal boards on roof and small boards inside ...all potential theft victims when unattended .

You can travel on a plane with all your gear that can take you to some of the best waves anywhere. It is easy for old people to do.the cost of the full kit is quite reasonably priced, for such a great sport.

Kitesurfing is the sport or pastime of riding on a modified surfboard while holding on to a specially designed kite, using the wind for propulsion.

You no longer sit on a surfboard gazing wistfully at the horizon for hours on end.

I met a 72 year old surfer who started doing kite lessons because he found paddling out very strenuous. He now uses the kite instead.

There's a far less of a chance of being taken by a shark compared to paddling around on a surfboard.

When the surf's blown out you can still be in the water getting a fix.
Why just be a surfer when there are so many great options now.

The feeling of the power in the kite, the acceleration, the ability to be at ease in wild conditions that would smash you on other craft, the endless different things to learn, being able to travel, and finally the engineering beauty of a kite.

Watching kiters at the beach, i thought it was the freedom of pumping up your kite wearing just your bikini bottoms, or daisy dukes. (Just ignore the negative comments about how hairy your legs are, or how your balls are hanging out).

From my perspective as a Windsurfer who entered the sport in 2008, Kitesurfing has four advantages over Windsurfing: a) Wind gradient, b) Shallow water, c) Less complex to rig, d) (may not be applicable now ?) "My Dad doesn't do it".
