Hey guys I'm sure this has been covered but wondering if we could shed some more light on this.
Wondering the pros and cons of wake boots?
Any informaton at all would be great
Cheers![]()
Wake and kite boots are the same but usually kite boots have added tabs to help put them on haha. We carry Hyperlite and Liquid Force wake boots and LF kite specific boots. All are great. Much lighter weight than they used to be and construction has improved heaps as well.
I find the LF wake boots are a bit heavier than their kite specific boots, but they are also far more durable and have way more support.
Just try some until you find the right amount of flex and support

2016 wake boots are lighter :) new Raphs are sick. My set get here tomorrow!
2016 Shanes felt the lightest of the range in the shop, not sure if true or not though. Looked pretty good.
p.s.
There's nothing different in regards to a "wake boot" vs a "kite boot", except for marketing, price and availability ;) .
just got my 2016 ronix ones and they are really light and super supportive! sizing is really weird tho definitely try on before you buy. im a US8.5 / 9 and i got the size US 11 although my feet are pretty chode like
Heresy I'm sure, but has anyone tried boots on a surf board?
Really powerful carving action is what Im thinking

Not sure. I tried un-hooking on one once but it made things challenging, so I stopped.

Saw a dude trying unhooked raleys on a strapped surfboard and crashing his kite on some kids at my local last week. Sick styles bra. He's def gonna try warranty when he snaps it or pulls an insert. Thank god it wasn't a brand I sell

Just looked at a new set for the low low price of $800. Piss off what a ass rapeing.
I love them but between the base plate warping & falling apart I'm lucky to get a year out of them
Tell you what, cabrinha h3 is awesome too. I think they could possibly be the lightest boot on the market. If you like a low cut, they are worth a look. Definitely need big washes on the screws tho. The screws tend to chew into the base plate.
I've heard good things about the ronix ones. Just heard the base plate was stiffer on the wake boots and can end up causing epic ankle injuries due to not as much flex as a kite boot??

This is very very untrue.
Yeh I know the price tag is fairly high I tried to go for last years size 10 but they were just too tight and with out the shop having a heating systems I didn't want to try heat mild them myself.. Damn comfy boots though.... Will definately help my progression this season!!

That's funny, i have a dodgy ankle that's why i want a stiffer boot! More flex offers less support.

I heat moulded my ronix boots myself there's a ronix instructional on YouTube. Hair dryer in the top for a minute or so then put ya foot in with a sock on and stand up in them.
Read it through a few forums, glad to hear it's not the case tho looks like I'll be strapping into some ronix ones this season![]()
hows the longevity of ronix these days?
I have 2014 ronix franks picked them up half price a year ago and for my first ever set of boots I think they are holing up well only wear on them is from the laces rubbing on the tongue of the boot. Put some dakron tape over the wear spots and anywhere else I thought they might rub. And just wash them out with the hose after each session to get all the sand and salt off.
Not sure if I would buy a set at full price but for what I paid for them I'm happy with them

What you just said makes no sense whatsoever

The new ronix are so much better my 2015 ONE'S are the best boots I've ever owned. Had them for about a year now and are still like new and no bent base plate, and I use them for kite, cable and boat. Only thing I replaced the laces with a set of LF ones

I just picked up some last years model ronix franks too $350 bran new. I said id never get ronix again because they dont last but they just so comfy and i know i like them. Sux when ya get boots ya dont like. Each time they break i take them to the boot repair guy up the road and he fixes them for $20. Lol took my last pair there about 4 times but that was over 2 years so cant complain about that.
Those north banana boot. What ever ronix that was. It was the nicest feeling boot iv ever felt!

Was told the franks were the same as the banana boot. Could be wrong though. Never heard good things about the banana boot but guy at my local went through two sets in one season, they just fell apart the glue, stitching and they seemed to rub a hell of a lot more. Like you say but they are comfy
