Kiters are forced to join a club they don't like,

just because they wish to kite at Cottesloe.

Those same kiters are totally free to kite at Scarborough,

without any such prejudice. Why ??

lol.

Scarborough is crap, small closing out surf, swimmers everywhere, stingers and more shark sightings than anywhere else.
I heard Falcon is the best place around, friendly locals, un crowded, shark free, plenty of beach to launch and land your kite, great shaped surf which is always bigger swell than anywhere else for some reason?
Falcon is the place to be and you don't have to be a WAKSA member

nice troll slavey - I'll bite.

From what I understand:

- It's Cottesloe Council that disciminates against kiters .. no insurance - no kite (lots of accidents .. it's where Coldshot died last year)

- WAKSA/KA are (again, as far as I know) the only mob who got their act together to make 'council recognised' insurance available.

So, unless I have the wrong end of the stick .. it's more like "It's because of WAKSA that people can kite at Cottesloe"

Why ? ^^^

Are you in charge now ?

Laurie just came up with WAKSA's new slogan. v v v

"It's because of WAKSA that people can kite Cottesloe"

That's brilliant. Gotta be good for upping the membership.

Run with it.

Perhaps a solution would be a "Dutch Inn only" WAKSA membership/permit of $10 year for the stretch near the Salvado Street beach path? Just so no one can plead poverty.
Just register and pay on the site, and get a rego number to quote to Cott Council.
On a side note, the council just called and it appears their inquiry on which I reported yesterday has indicated one of the signs wrongly has the 'no kiting symbol' - which I assume is the one at the Salvado Street path - but it will not have confirmed until tomorrow (Friday) when senior staff are back from leave.
Chill, people. No wind today anyway....

I know of one claim a few years ago where the insurance company paid out ~ $120,000 where a kiter ran into a swimmer.

With that as a benchmark, even if a thousand kiters paid $10, thats only $10,000. The insurance company would be out of pocket $110,000, and that's not even counting lawyers, membership processing, postage, customer support, etc etc etc..

If one person misunderstood the situation (which I'm pretty sure is the case here), then maybe there are others, so good to have it clarified.

just for all you council bashers, they made a mistake with the signs, happy days.
What most people won't be aware of is, the ongoing investigation into coldshots death, the council are actually doing the right thing and not jumping to any knee-jerk reactions thankfully, but I can assure you all, reports are still being written and studied and it is a ongoing issue. Stay safe guys & gals
