Let Pray for Wind and Waves

Judging Criteria for those who don't like links.

A surfer must perform radical controlled manoeuvres in the most critical sections of a wave with power, speed and flow to maximise scoring potential. Innovative and progressive surfing as well as a variety of repertoire (manoeuvres) will be taken into consideration when rewarding points for waves ridden.

The surfer who executes this criteria with the maximum degree of difficulty and commitment on the waves shall be rewarded with the higher scores.

It???s important to note that the emphasis on certain elements of the criteria is contingent on the location and conditions on the day, as well as changes of conditions on the day

The head judges will make sure judges and competitors understand the criteria and what it looks like / how the scoring will be applied in the conditions on the day.

Scoring

Bad Wave

Poor Wave

Average Wave

Good Wave

Excellent Wave

0.1 to 1.9

2.0 to 3.9

4.0 to 5.9

6.0 to 7.9

8.0 to 10.0

What???s it look like

To paint a picture of what this looks like, think of pro surfing ??? this represents the best illustration of how to do well under these judging criteria.

Equipment

We don???t think that equipment is an issue eg straps, or board selection. The conditions on the day are going to suit certain riders and certain equipment. Our experience is that the best riders on the day will win based on the judging criteria.

On ya guys.

if we get anything next weekend like yesterday we will be in luck. Wind was in by 1 and clean shoulder sets rolling in. Just letting everyone know it might be worth checking / walking the entrance or driving north through the town on the shack tracks as the beach is nice and soft atm with little to no beach in sections. You need to time sections to miss the water!
