Hi Guys & Dolls,
I'm going to Perth 01 Nov and i'm staying with a friend over for about 2 weeks so plenty of kiting then ![]()

I am also thinking of going to Exmouth and check out Ningaloo. Any advice on a cheap way of doing some kiting around there - if there is wind then..
Would be cool to hook up with someone from the area and kite around. Nothing like a local to know where to go and how to to maximize kiting versus spending.
Willing to 'swap'.. WA for SYD.. I have time/transport on my hands here and can host in exchange for WA travel.
Looking forward to advice. Tks in Advance.

Hi mate,
If heading north to Exmouth for some kiting action it will not come cheap.
Fuel prices have been hovering @ $2/litre for the past 6 months and food prices are over the top.
No free camping either. The local ranger has been running hot and is not ashamed to throw a $400 on the spot fine in your lap..
Camp sites in Cape Range National Park are only $6.5 per night. There is an entry fee too @ $20/car.
There is one camp site site right next to Sandy bay (great flat water spot).
You then don't have to drive very far, but will need to be fully self sufficent. There is no water, shops or shade for 80kms.....gets pretty dam hot with no S.W either...time then to go snorkelling...
There is O.K wind in Nov, so to find a local, just look for a kite in the sky and an esky on the beach!!
- May be Corro's north of Gero, may be a cheaper alternative?
Tks Champoo, this is what I expected - good advice from someone who knows.. makes a world of difference.
I might wait for next trip and organise the whole lot from Sydney, with 4WD and the lot. Still investigating alternative options as I do not want to impose on my friends for the whole 2 weeks..
Tks for the tips man and good winds to you.

No worries mate, you also don't even need a 4wd to get around the place.
I've met lots of Sydney & Melbourne kiting crew on the beach who have flown to Perth - Sydney - Exmouth (return) then hired a Camper Van/Trailer locally for accommodation in Cape Range.
Saves the long drive up form Perth (16 hours) when you only have a small time frame off work to make the most of good winds on a kiting holiday.
But it all depends if you wish to call into some places on the way up.
* If you book flights in advance with Skywest, you save heaps too...
