Been a while since I posted on here.
Lately been noticing a significant increase on beach huggers on down winders. It is really sad, as for years, everyone seemed to know that you find a wave, follow it to the beach and ride it... with the occasional left vs right priority.
But lately there seems to be an army of folks who will cut you off on a wave, hugging the beach and just hop from one wave to the next to the next, with no regard for the person doing a tack coming in on said wave...
How are you handling this situation?
by breaking into all the cars along the WA coast and selling your kiteing gear to euros so they can use it as toilet paper after pinching off a few in the sand dunes.
oh yeah obligatory keep your **** in the wa section
head down eyes on the prize when riding a wave.......accidents may happen, then we can talk or tumble on the sand while we untangle our gear.

Fully agree .... missing the old days when you knew everyone is doing a DW!
Only done this a few times and hopefully this arvo is on. My last week in the big smoke.
Found the crew to be friendly, few dagger stares from a couple of kiters around the north groyne at city/floreat beach maybe as they are on a tack.
Noticed if a DWer is slower than others they simply go round.
I am one of those slower DWer as I am used to kiteing a break or a place that doesn't have DW capabilities or Im just by myself. If I realize Im in the way I will tack head out offshore a bit jibe and give my back leg a break
and let them pass on through on the coast side then tuck back in behind them.
Super fun BTW wish the swell was a bit bigger though.
see you out there today Yewww!!!
It doesn't happen on the Lanos to wedge run
or in the WA section just in the general section every god damn time
Can't this just go in the 'Metro - WA' section, its such a disappointment to be tarred with the same brush,

Hey does this mean its on this arvo.....Rotto being the indicator it will ramp along swanbourne to trigg?
it should do.... but doesn't seem to really want to today, might be too hot.
rotto usually goes, then if you see Ocean reef ramp up to strong yellows or first green quickly then it is on.

Mate stop advertising it..................apparently you've done it???
No need to repeatedly tell everyone on the internet how good it is.
I just don't get the 'beach huggers" comment - must be a WA genetic disorder?? Here on the east we are actually happy to see a fellow kiter on a downwinder. - lots of beach between kiters over here !! So what exactly is the issue ?? Irrespective of whether I was kiting from my local spot or doing a downwinder the same kiting rules apply re rider on the wave, rider leaving the beach etc?? Do the WA kiter have different kiting etiquette to the rest of the mainland??

The issue is that we have a DW run that is so popular in the summer it can be like peak hour out there. Literally 100+ kites in a 5-10km stretch (am I exaggerating here perth? That's what it seems like to me) and some guys are just charging straight down the breaking wave line all the way.
TBH I don't really have any issue with it, I like to take my time cruising DW. And just let those guys past.
No big deal at all. I can understand OP's issue tho if he is being cut off.
