Nice vid, DK. Su looks great!

Related...why do people load their vids up in VIMEO? It never works for me - always jerky and stopping, even when I let it load up all the way. I have big fat broadband. And a couple of computers. So why doesn't it work? And why do people do it? I know you all think your vids are so stunningly beautiful that they must be viewed either in HD or, second best, the top gallery at the Louvre...but do us all a favour and go youtube!

Hi Weta,

Thanks mate - no big effort put into that vid - just put the cam on the tripod and went riding mostly. Olly did a great job on the edit and the music is all his.

We get wind all year round in Northland, strongest is winter, spring most consistent where it tends to blow more from the west, Autumn is mostly E winds and good east coast waves. Summer is seabreezes, some years these are very good, some years not so good.

Pataua River mouth and Ngunguru both get ridden, but need very particular wind directions to work well.

The west coast is only an hours drive away and has 100km+ of beach, can cop some very stormy conditions tho and HUGE messy swell at times.

We are based in Ruakaka because within 10min drive of the workshop we have safe sandy beaches that works in ANY wind direction. Makes it kind of hard to leave at times.

You can check out our riding guide here:

www.ruakakakitesports.co.nz/Ruakaka_riding_guide.pdf

The other good spot in northland to check out is Cape Karikari, on the east coast near Kaitaia.

Hi Weta,

Thanks, we build what we like and try not to be too tied to fashion. Our process is quite unique too, not the usual ABS/PBT dye-sub recipe repeated all over the world and marketed as different. Don't make huge numbers, just a few hundred a year, about half sold in NZ, the rest to Europe - Holland is our biggest export market. Very few in Aus, in fact sold more to the US than across the Tasman.

The best wind stats for the Whangarei area are found here:

www.windfinder.com/windstatistics/mokihinau?utm_source=www.windfinder.com&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=redirect

I can ride anything from a 17m to a 7m all year round and sometimes in the same day!

Cheers DK

a little more boosting would have been ideal.
