Hey there Victorians,
I've been transferred to Melbourne for a coupla months and am looking for like minded wave kiter/s to share car costs this weekend. Forecast looks like strong westerlies and 3m.
Alternatively you could give me directions to anywhere that'll be cross shore. Was considering down towards the Sandy Pt area.
yeah its looking ok it possibly could stay with a Northerly. in that case head down to Rye fantastic flat water (but watch out for the sandbar) and if you want a surf head down to Gunnamatta and get some waves (which is really close to rye only a short drive away)
If the wind goes Westerly we get some fantastic bay waves down in Hampton, green point and Brighton beach. it will be a chilly one with heaps of rain also if your looking for a combo of waves and flat water head down to Ricketts point
any way where you living in Melbourne?
cheers coose
Cheers for the tips, appreciate it.
I'm staying round St Kilda.
And I don't really fancy a bay wave, unless it can barrell
Am more than willing to drive a few hours to find something epic.
I'll look those places up on the map, cheers. What's a decent kite shop in the area mate ?
There are a couple around St Kilda and Brighton
RPS Board Sports
SHQ
ST Kilda Kiteboarding
Not sure if St Kilda Kiteboarding have a store front as I have only been to SHQ and RPS shops before.
yeah want something epic? well lets say you wont be able to get off green point with a good 30 knots blowing.
i haven't really kited in some huge stuff before but the bay waves will suit your needs people surf off green point with a good westerly blowing i wouldn't under estimate it
look i kite the east coast surf and live in rye you woudn,t drive from melbourne to kite here on a westerly try 13th beach torquay way, a much better bet Gunnamatta and Portsea are just to gusty you need it south south east or south south west and there onshore and crossonshore you be dreaming if y think your going to get barrell here. Its hard enough when its offshore to find a bank like that surfing as for the bay thats not surfing thats 2foot slop on it best day
