just scrolling through fb this morning and a post from Ruben came up saying support Vaavud V2 - wind meter for smart phones.
Did anyone get on board with the first version? Did the product work well and Did the kickstarter deliver on time?

I felt it was a terrible product and continued to use an old anemometer

Results varied wildly and very dependant on holding it at exactly the right angle

why not just use water visuals?
or sand movement?
or observe the tree branches (natural windsocks)?

no need for fandangle wind meters...
or am i doing it wrong???

Watched a dude once stand behind his 4wd hold his wind metre up above his head, loudly declare that it was only 13 knots, got back in his truck and drove off

We all looked at each other, rigged up our small Kites and went out

It was easy 25

Good wind meters are valuable - but only if the air flow is clean at the site you are monitoring !!
I use one when Im trying to decide between two kite sizes - ave vs gust wind ?? Yes I look at the water state and have 30 years of sailing / windsufing / and now kitesurfing experience - I use a kestrel product and have been looking at the plug in iphone gear - good to hear Im wasting my money !!
