So I'm pretty sceptical... But seriously, the amount of kites and boards for sale in the "For Sale" section that say "used once or twice" is **c*ing ridiculous! And some even say "a small repair job, but only used once or twice" Come on...

Yes I'm sure on the very, very odd occasion this may be the case, but I reckon the vast majority of items that say this have been used way more than once.

It would be pretty easy to fly a kite for a season and pass it off as "only used once or twice" as the ageing process seems to take a while to be visible, same with a twin tip as they seem to stay "new" looking for a fair while...

Anyone ever purchased a "as new" item only to find it wasn't exactly "as new"?

Nah , not really. The bar and lines as well as the pig tails reveal all. If you know what a fresh new kite should look like , no one could dump an "As New " kite on you that had been flogged for an entire season, unless you were holding a white stick

Nar, the bar stays pretty fresh looking for a while, but yeah I guess the pig tails probably hold the truth...

Here's a true scenario
You have an 8 /10/ 12 quiver
You live in the Midwest wa
You flog your 7 to death
You ride your 10 now and then
Your 12 has been used once
I have flown my 12 for 2 hrs since new 2014

I bought a brand new kite without demoing it first.

Flew it twice. Hated it with the wrath of 1000 circus monkey's.

Sold the **** out of that bag of **** kite asafp.

Mate, I wouldn't mind buying your 8, as it seems like you never use it.

I once bought a twin tip from a shop in another state, via their webpage. It was advertised as having only been used a couple of times for demos and there were photos provided, but these were taken from a couple of metres away.

When it arrived it had an obvious cigarette burn in it. One of the edges had suffered and impact and was slightly crushed. The top had started to delaminate and there were multiple deep scratches on the bottom where it had gone over rocks or a reef.

Not a happy customer......

Moral of the storey is it's not just Joe Public that will use deceptive language when advertising goods for sale.

Oh they also sold me a new seat harness, then contacted me to tell me they had no new ones left but would give me a second hand one instead!!

Used only twice, by whom? Some brand new kites get a harder flogging by a beginner in 2 sessions than an experienced kiter would do in a whole season.

My take
You belong to some reliouse group that allows multiple brides
Ones 19/20 hot as, great personality, toned, never has a headache and the words don't do that, isnt in her vocabularie
The next ones 25/30 bit rough round the edges , but still a bit of a goer,
The other one is 40/ 45 , moans , chews your ear , doesn't like this / that blah blah blah
So is used once,
The 19/20 year old is a 7mtr kite
The 25/30 year old is a 10 mtr kite
The 40/45 year old is a foil board / 17 mtr combo

Glad I'm not in qld

Nope, it's not the same person, I don't have multiple accounts. That would be weird. And I'm not wining, just sharing an observation.

Are you selling some "as new" crap?

I just sold a Cabrinha Omega HD to a local and he could not be happier. Use once? My arse! I know when a kite's been abused vs used only once.
