This is my proposal for the council.

I'd like an artists impression if anyone's keen.

I was inspired to finish my project tonight as i saw an artists impression for bondi (see below) They are getting rid of a carpark on the foreshore.

Hopefully one day St.Kilda will have the Premier Pack up/pack down grassy spot!!

For what my opinion is worth mate, I thinks its a fine idea!
There are many such stupid cut-off spaces that could be better used in a lot of communities, this one is definitely being wasted.

Good luck.

Yes thats a great idea and not really all that expensive considering the advantages that it would bring to the community.

You could use the Nepean Highway at Albert Park as an example of how the traffic lanes could work (give priority depending upon time of day).

A noble idea, good luck.

Hey thanks everyone, great to see some support! I would love a big park like that :)

I sent it to the local council today, it'll probably get ignored, maybe i'll show some papers...

Looks like a great really simple way to improve the area immensely. I will play devils advocate however, what if after the changes the area becomes so popular for families that kiting there becomes untenable?

They'll probably send it back with an amendment, a shire no Kiting allowed sign at the entrances to the beach

I'm guessing the actual message is clear and documented quite well (for a first draft)?

I'd like a perspective photo which i'll do sometime.

A graphical layout plan with material legend may be better understood (using google map instead of satellite), I'll add that in if i bored one night :)

Fantastic work. Might be worth posting in the VIC section also - I'd back this up for sure.

My first thought, as someone else mentioned.. Wave good bye to kiting in this spot

The more you develop areas into public/community/family friendly environments, the less likely kiting will be allowed remain in the area without restrictions.. and the big grassed area will certainly be off limits as a designated rig up area

All the best

In that case I'd prefer a median strip obviously. The area is already zoned as surf craft/sailing by Parks Victoria and hopefully would remain unchanged

They are proposing or going ahead with (not sure if it is approved) some pretty ridiculous things for st.Kilda West beach.

They intend to stick a huge Jetty right in the middle of our favourite flat water spot, It will completely destroy the spot, I'd be surprised if lessons/ riding could continue while a ferry cruises past.

I foresee some big problems for the area unless Vic locals/ KBV form some sort of unified voice to maintain the area.
