Anyone got a travelling kiting trip planned or takes there board on planes much?.....I got my hands on a brilliant Italian travel board if anyone wants to check out the quality of the 'Newind' carbonfibre split boards.
I bought one last year for a 1 year trip backpacking around the world with my wife and managed to cart a complete setup minus a pump and all my belongings in 1 backpack.
I was a little hesitant laying out just over 2k after postage to get a board that I had only roughly translated italian reviews of. (There is now an agent in California that you can get your hands on one for about 1.5k with postage) Mine is a custom made 130 Carbon fibre Split board that fitted perfectly into the back of my backpack and to be honest in the first few sessions I was pretty light on jumps and a little apprehensive about riding a board that splits in two. After a few sessions it was obvious there had been alot of work put into the design of the board.
Super, super light and super, super strong and amazing flex!
It rides so nicely that I am know on the look out for a standard board with the same specs.
So anyway if anyones got any questions about these type of boards or would like to have a look at it they are thinking about ordering one from overseas .... or want to purchase mine for about 1k give me a bell....kiting around Mullas or Pinnas.

Kiteboards are easily small enough to travel with in 1 peice, seems a total waste of time and cash to me.
Of course a standard board is the first choice if it suits your style of travelling.
The whole idea of the board is to minimize baggage and weight for those that need it. All depends on what type of travel your doing, (with kids, backpacking, certain business travels etc).
On average I was hitching, trekking, on a plane, train, bus or taxi everyday for the last year. Not a waste of dollars or time for me, every bit of saved weight or free hand to carry something else was priceless on my trip.
I checked out Troys Newind carbonfibre split board at the beach the other day.
It looks great, super thin and unbelievably light.
