I am the idiot who bought this board 'used few times'
Where was it used, I wonder, on gravel driveway![]()
Some People will say anything to get rid of their merchandise. Anyway, lesson learnt, will ask for hi resolution photos rather than rely on the owner description for anything I buy in the future. Photo of glossy top of board from a distance plus owner assurance that it is barely used will not do.
Do you guys think the integrity of board is in question when there are fairly deep scratches in the bottom of the board?
The last photo shows also my own board that I used more than 500 times over 3 years - if the one I bouht is 'barely used' then I should advertise my old board as 'brand new in exceptional condition' . Kitsurfers are a good bunch in general but watch out for wankers, they are out there too ![]()

Shinn boards do have a high gloss finish to & bottom which does unfortunately scratch up easily. Unless your new cheap bought board has gouges - as in through into the laminates you have got nothing to worry about.
constantly ride my shinn in very shallow water, and always drag an edge on the beach whilst carving, catch the reef on a regular basis, got some nasty looking chunks and scratches to the bottom especially on the rails, carnt say im bothered or the board reacts differently, if your fussed id contact shinnworld and ask them best procedure for a recoat, youd be able to do it with a sander ,filler and corect top coat, id have zero worries about the strength, snowboard technologies in their build, and they cop a much bigger flogging than our tt,s
Glad to hear that it should not be an issue, but the owner should not be describing the board as 'used few times' or 'barely used' if the bottom looks like it does. You can see my nearly 4 years old shinn which I use ALL THE TIME - it ain't got any scratches compared to this 'barely used' board I just bought.
I have a 5m switch element 4 which I can honestly say I have used less than 5 times if anyone is interested?
One of those times I crashed it and it got washed up onto some jagged rocks and torn to shreds but it's only been used a handful of times
Name and shame him!!
Yes but only if he didn't agree on a return
Haha that is fuqin low man I would be ropable foaming at the mouth, in my opinion you've been scammed
Buying second hand is a lottery. Sometimes you win sometimes you loose.
Make sure you get close up pictures next time and maybe some agreement to return if it doesn't meet your quality expectations.
Would be good to add opinions/reviews for the Seabreeze members similar to eBay - I know it has been mentioned in the past, I think it would add value.

Its not a lottery if the seller is honest

I don't see why SB is any different to carsales, FB buy and sell, gumtree etc? Just because someone kites doesn't make them a decent person does it?
People always think there stuff is better than it is and worth way more than it is. Sometimes they are pushing for a sale, sometimes they have lower expectations and sometimes their stuff is actually a great buy but regardless, when you're the one handing over money its up to you to do your own due diligence.

If I outright lied like that Id honestly feel bad because what goes around comes around it will catch up with old mate eventually one way or another I believe that
Unfortunately it's not just private sellers, I bought a SUP from an interstate shop through SB earlier this year that was only supposed to have a few "scuff marks" that turned out to include 2 amateur repairs, which the add photos creatively missed. The shop ignored my phone messages and emails.

yes there is a particular kite shop on the sunny coast which had the habit of sending me kites that have had repairs after advertising it with no repairs, wonder if we are talking about the same place

Very familiar sounding story. Had the same thing with a supposedly "as new" condition kite from a shop, which had repairs and a leaking bladder. Same story too with ignored phone calls.
The shop is on the northern end of Queensland

Can you give us any more hints as to whats the name of this shop?
Cheers
Who cares what it looks like. Boards are supposed to be used. My board looks like that after being used 5 times.
Unless you you can see fibers exposed you have nothing to worry about.
Some people don't have the luxury of having white fluffy sand on there beaches.
Fair enoungh go sick flog it use and abuse it thats what they meant for just dont be a qunt and advertise as used few times with clever camera tricks. 2 different things
Gentleman, I think you would find under consumer LAW that he has the rights to send it back within a 2 week period if purchased over the internet. That is if it is a Private Seller or a Shop Front. These people can argue as much as you want BUT if it does not fit description YOU have the right to return the item (at your expense) and they have to refund your cash to your nominated account.
There is no such law with private sales unless the item is stolen or clearly dodgy.
It couldb't be any more simple, when you are handing over money in exchange for 2nd hand goods, make sure you know what you are buying. If you fail to do this then it's nobody elses fault but your own.
The bloke who bought my high end bbq on Gumtree last week had no issues asking a bucketload more questions and requesting lots photos of it before he drove an hour to collect it but did i tell him why i was selling it? Of course not, otherwise he would have just got a Weber instead![]()
He'll realise something is not right when it explodes in his face?
Good on you for omitting the truth (same as a lie) for a extra buck. ![]()
Yeh OK..
Just so you can sleep soundly tonight, it was a nice stainless steel 6 burner with cabinet, wok burner, rotiserrie etc etc used probably 15 times and in great condition. Wok and rotisierrie were never used.
Everything worked faultlessy (as per videos he requested when he did his homework before driving an hr to get it) and I even gave him a 3/4 full gas bottle that wasn't included in the ad.
BUT do you really think it's up to me to tell him that a $500 Weber Q kills any of the flash alfresco ornaments ![]()
