I'm puting this one out there. has any one tried to make a twin tip hydrofoil board ,seen anyone riding one or have pics or film of one.
I would like to have a go at making one but know there would be a lot of challenges in making it work well. All input welcome.
You can mount a foil on just about any board you'd like really. It's just a matter of having a board strong enough and a strong enough mounting system for it.

I'm afraid that's a technical impossibility....each wing under the foil is not only directional with a leading edge and trailing edge, but they both have a distinct function, therefore a different size and shape.
Foils fly, a bit like plane wings, you wouldn't be able to fly a plane backwards...same goes for the foil.

History is full of ppl who grappled with something 'impossible'. The first ones to crack it become the Wright brothers of their chosen thrill. Nothing is impossible. It IS possible to design a foil that works in both directions. Fkn hard and maybe years or decades away, but it will happen. Waterskiing behind a kite was impossible once.
I mounted my foil on an old Naish twin tip. I had snapped the fish I had rigged up to learn on, and the tt was only temporary until I shaped the Paipo. Bottom line, it sucked. The swing weight didn't feel right. Yes I could ride it, but I didn't realize how awful it was until I jumped on the Paipo.

Guy on KF made one...he gave up on it for a regular one, that should tell you enough.
thanks for the video as cbulota said leading and trailing edge vary important not to mention the shape of the foil.
Alex Aguera makes some twin tip style board.Problem is when you touch down you don't have enough floatation.Plus you need some surface area to move on especially when doing manoeuvres.Current high end foil boards are getting closer to twin tip sizing. 140-150cm x 42-47cm. 2.5kg
I'm not sure why you would want a bi-directional hydrofoil. The pleasure of foiling is the pure feeling of flight. All that comes from the speed and the physical stance you are in. A bi-directional would compromise that hugely.
One of the nicest things is to carve a nice foil gybe. They're not hard to do (I can do them so they can't be that hard.)
As for the board itself, I guess for travel purposes you could easily drill some holes into a TT and bolt your foil on the bottom and go riding. I would be worried that the board and foil would not float above the surface. It would be very sad to see my incredibly expensive foil sinking to the bottom.
This was an old cabrinha chopstick now a foilboard it used to sink until I put the cheap foam on the deck no probs now
changing the straps to three strap config it's heaps litghter than my LF foil I'm riding at the moment The deck foam is from Bunnings $17 bucks for 4 big squares,feels great under foot ,grippy
well that is waaaaaay cheaper for your foam deck than normal pads that are 50 bucks each! Wish I would have thought of that before I purchased two pads for my Paipo.
Just need to buy contact and some cheapo brushes to stick it on,Bunnings and masters to get the whole lot

There were 3 that came out together. Iero bolt on your TT, brunotti with inflatable board, and another Euro that the wing moves along the fuse.
