Hi,
I'm heading to Perth over Easter. Form the 28 march to the 8th of April. And me and my parents will be driving along the coast from Perth up to Exmouth. So i was wondering should i pack my kite gear/ will there be any wind at that time of the year (if so what sort of strength)?
Thanks
Jeremy

Or just bring one kite, but guaranteed for any given location the best day for that kite will always have been yesterday.

Seasons end or beginning depending on kite size, its been all or nothing here in the mid west cover your arse and bring a quiver, if you get stuck and pass through dongara I can help you out , plenty of special Kiting spots up our coast enjoy

Kite gear takes up hardly any room. Especially if you put 2 kites in one bag. The answer is always YES.
Should I take my kite to WA? Yes
Should I take my kite to the family xmas? Yes
Should I take my kite to europe? Yes
Should I put my kite in the back of my car at my mate's wedding at the Gold Coast? Yes
Should I put my kite in the back of my car at my own wedding ? YES

Classic wishy.

Still not to be the negative nelly but the wind around then can switch off like a light bulb. That April doldrums. Swell comes and the surfboards come out! But then again as wishy said pack them.

As Eppo said the wind can switch off around April, I wouldn't be to confident of getting any sort of consistent wind then.

Id love to be positive and say bring it all and if you were road tripping with kite buddies then I would say yep mad if you don't.
You may get lucky and get a few days of wind if you are in the right spot at the right time but I'm not to sure wether it is worth the hassle of bringing a lot of kit if you are travelling with your parents, suppose it depends how flexible they are.

There is going to be at least a couple of days of driving and I would imagine they are going to want to do a bit of sightseeing so it's not going to give you many days to hang out at the beach but having said that you will be spewing if you rock up somewhere like sandy bay and the wind is in and you haven't got any gear.

Keep an eye on the forecast graphs for Central West (Gero) and North West (Shark Bay and Exmouth) and you will get an idea of what to expect.

Tough choice.

Hi jrobinson,

April is notoriously unreliable for wind in Perth. Last seasonwe closed the school in end of March due to lack of reliable wind, although having said that, we have had seasons where we kited into late April. This is for Perth though. The wind should hang around a bit longer the further you go north.

Not sure this year, the weather is a bit wierd and the water is unseasonably warm. I think we'll be right for March, not sure about April, I feel it may just drop out all of a sudden.

These thoughts are of course all coming from WA riders, as an East Coaster, you'll be happier with wind we probably wouldn't bother with. I'd bring a 12 and a 9.

im with dm on this one, weve just gone from regular 30s to not a lot, what may save the day is shark bay and exmouth as they are kiteable on both sides so look for some easterly patterns
