So, here is the Deal.
I have quit my job (5 weeks to go) and my wife and I will be heading off around Australia in a Camper Trailer in search of wind and waves.
8 Month trip with the focus on adventure. We head from Perth and going anti clockwise across to South Australia first.

I will be taking some camera gear with me and making some film clips on the way round. Gonna focus on 2 minutes per Blog type clip and I wanted some inspiration from you lot on the following.

Where are some spots I should not miss? I focus mainly on wave riding.
What type of film stuff would people be interested in seeing? I know a lot of people want to avoid the lifestyle stuff, so will bear that in mind.
Who wants to join in on my way around. I want to document some fun times with fellow kiters around the country and hopefully inspire people to travel in their own back yard. I am fairly hypocritical as I have left it until now to do this myself.

I have also recently lost my sponsorship (This is not a plea for a new one), so won’t be pimping any brands so just want to capture other people’s perspective on Kite surfing and Surfing.
Anyway over to you. Hopefully I get to meet a few (or a lot) of you on the way round and just share the stoke.

Leon

If you can talk to my employer, my bank, and my wife, I'll give you ideas about where "we" could go?

You lucky b'tards....

Sounds like a great trip mate, but leaving w.a across summer to find wind and waves!!! Sure you'll find it but, I'd hit your own state hard first and then a trip to Byron, warm water nothing but clean air to breath...???

I have had 7 years to explore WA and now could not be better timing job wise, so following the sun around australia is my plan. Will be in Qld for their windy season.

I will be hanging around margs Denmark Esperance till mid January too.

When you get to NSW try doing a downwinder at Shoalhaven Heads near Nowra. I have a mate down that way in Berry who loves to have buddies to kitesurf with. I can hook you up if you are interested and when you get there.

Enjoy ... sounds like an amazing adventure.

It's a shame you are going anti clockwise, I'm doing the exact same thing clockwise when I finish my job next month. We will have to meet up in Queensland.

Actually I'm planning on doing Esperance etc until ~Feb, meet up down there for sure.

Good idea, i'm sure there's heaps of characters out there

Name and shame their style for all to see, i.e. tag them with their sea breeze id

Stop in at Cronulla ...

Nothing like the spirit of adventure! Definitely hit us up on the south coast nsw for that down winder at Shoalhaven or some other special spots that are out of reach for the masses. I have a nine month adventure starting in Feb, hard to leave this paradise, but there is nothing like traveling to new spots and meeting people. Good luck with it, it is something everyone should do.

while your in the southeast of Victoria,
kite St. Kilda, (if there's wind) just because!
kite Inverloch, because it's nice, and sometimes there's wind!
kite Rosebud, because it's heart of kiting in victoria (and usually has wind)
kite Wilsons Promontory, because if you don't get wind here then your trip is more cursed than my recent 3 month Eurotrip

good luck

Hey guys

Thanks for all of the replies. Some great info. If you want to keep your spots secret from the forum feel free to PM me, my intention in capturing the adventures is to keep the hidden treasures just that.
Also would be great to just ride with some fellow people frothing about kitesurfing in waves.

If you hit the sunny coast be sure to do a massive downwinder there, great fun and not busy always have your own space! Been meaning to do the goldie one day too, i imagine it would be the same deal.

When there's no wind or surf. Make tourist porn at different iconic locations and I might follow your blog! Always feel that modern surf flicks miss telling the sexual adventures of a surf trip. Man up and GoPro your balls!

Goldy is great except for all the flags, they are everywhere, espically up the northern end in Summer

Need to head out around the flags every 800m or so

And down the southern end there is an exclusion zone for kiteboarding

At Tugan because of the Gold Coast International Airport

But don't let that put you off

I know somebody who DW there

No problem

Just dont get sucked up into a Boeing 747

So many awesome and out of the way places, keep searching and don't rush it. SA is one of my favourites. Good luck.
