It seems there is a bit of a need for a travel sub section.
Every third thread seems to be a done to death topic on: aceh, PNG, Fiji, lord Howe etc.

Fair enough if they were genuine travel stories or questions related to the area, but it seems as though these threads are just being used as a pimping area for one to promote there kite camp

Move them to a sub forum, or if not moderate the general section a bit harder weeding out the pimps.

Just few thoughts, from my first world perspective.

Gotta be a good idea!

Would also make it easier for those with the time and money to find what they're looking for..

When and where can you kite in Bali? I just cant seem to get my head around it!

Good Idea surfingboye! could even have a few sticky threads on the most popular destinations as the search button seems hard to find for a few.
Jankie could write a first informative post with his same old links that would stay there, for example.

Just added another. It's labelled 'Travel' so don't read it if you are not interested

A lot of people tag their topics as "Travel", so you can easily filter using this link:

Or maybe its a case of filtering out all of the pimpy promo reviews of the same places we see every year?

so whats the problem ?!? why cant we have a universal travel sub? can have its own section even so the poleys can join in on the fun.

you worried about upseting sponsors who just continuously pimp there schools/camps/resorts ? i think they would make more money. look at google its all about that selective marketing.
plus a travel sub would be so much more then that. can have international/ national guides on all sorts of things travel related like how to handle taxi drivers fishermen and military.

would it be considerd illegal to tell people how that instead of paying 40$ a night accomodation they could stay at a local house for $2 instead and pay $1 a day for tuktuk to kite spot and back and another $3 for food for the day? because it would kind of make people maybe be a bit more adventurous and decide to try experience a bit more then just a place that trys to mimic the creature comforts of western living.

i can see how it may be interpreted as hurting the school/resort but to be honest the difference of what? a $280 week compared to a 60$ week is pretty big. plus your the master of your own destiny when you not locked into these resort things. you get to actually experience living there for 1 thing. the resorts dont really want us scummy backpackers there anyways right? allways sneaking in store bought beers rather then being ripped off at the bars etc etc i dont think it would be stealing any of the sponsors customers away. it would just get the ones who think it costs $2k a week to kite in asia to actually go there now that they know they can do it for $500 or if they stay a month or 2 $1000
plus there is SO MANY other locations different waves and weather conditions i would read the **** out of a sub that was dedicated to just explaining all the different winds names and movements on time of the year etc it would be nice to have a travel sub so i can learn about how the cold air from the himilayas comes down and reacts with the hot air and throws it all over the eastern continent of sri lanka causeing large monsoons. because all those sort of things should be WHY we travel to certain places certain times of the year. not just because someone gave us a taxi from the airport and it had aircon and cocktails.
