Hey guys,
I'm going on a kite trip next month (PNG ) and I'm wondering what kind of stuff I should bring in case of mishap. There won't be a kiteshop around for I'm guessing 1000kms or more so I'll want to have a pretty well stocked repair kit. I'm bringing 3 kites, all pretty new, and in perfect condition so that should help. I'll be with a bunch of other guys but i'd lke to be self sufficient.

Can anyone reccomend a good packaged kit or just a rundown of most of what you would bring for a trip? If you're a shop and have something, pimp away, I'd love to hear what's available. I've searched around a bit but I'm just after some advice.

So, what would you bring?

Bladder repair is pretty simple, some glue and bladder material.

The hard part is dealing with a big tear of the leading edge. The fabric with glue given with kites will not work on anything more than a few cm.

Bring some tape and a needle and thread. I've sewn a leading edge and it really is not hard. You tape from the inside and then sew together with the needle and thread.

second all of that (I think Kitepower sell Kitefix) !
ye local boat / yacht shop should have a sail repair kit that'll come in handy if you need to sew anything (waxed thread that doesn't rot and heavy duty needles), and the spinnaker tape.

Kitefix repair kits are a good and available as a complete or mini kit. I always carry about a foot of Tear Aid as well as it works on both canopy and bladder.
Other items I carry are a Microhook line braiding tool for emergency line repairs and maybe a stick on valve or 2.

kitefix kit $85 on kitepower.com.au
Really good kit, saved my ass up north around Easter, tore kite pretty much in half, comes with loads of different coulour repair fabric, dacron tape, even a pair of sissors, but you still need a thick needle and stong fishing twine for a LE tear and a roll of duck tape.
