Hey guys, I'm going on vacation soon and am looking for advice on a travel bag. I am bringing a surfboard, twintip, 2 kites and all other gear. I have read on here some guys used a double surf bag and bring harness and stuff onboard the airplane. Anyone use a triple bag surfboard bag and fit everything in? over the 30kg weight limit for int'l? Unfortunately where I live there is no surf so nobody carries surfboard bags let alone coffins. I can get a Sanctum triple for about $150 and a double from surfstitch for $80 which is why I'm wondering if the double would be a pretty tight squeeze. Cheers.

You should be fine with a double. I traveled the world with two board, three kites, pump towel repair kit and wettie in the bag along with two bars. The harness went in the kite bag that I used as carry on with clothes etc. This got me just on 30 kilos. One of the kites was strutless so it was very light. Pack the kites around the boards and layer them . Be careful zipping up the bag. Have fun....

Thanks mate. I went with the double and it's perfect. Obviously a triple would allow a bit less fussing around packing but should get it all in. 2 weeks to go

If you are flying Air Asia, you can take as many bags as you like in a sports package, as long as the total weight doesn't exceed the kg's you have paid for. Good if you are going to a one place holiday, not so if you have lots of bus's, train's, boat's tuk-tuk's etc to get there.
Have fun.

The trouble with surfboard bags is you gotta lug the bloody thing. Kite golf bags have rollers which makes life a lot easier at airports and train stations.

My friend Chapelle has a body board bag she said you can use. Has never had any issues getting through airports. Just need to pick up something for her dad in return for letting you borrow the bag
