The amount of trolls in the kitesurfing section of Seabreeze is out of control.

I run a Facebook kiting group and we dont get that problem at all. I think it's because people can't hide behind an alias and their comments are viewable to their friends and family.

Here however, any racist, bogan idiot can make any comment they like, in fact, many of them seem purely intent on just trying to upset people, no matter how morally wrong i.e. in death topics.

It's a real shame cause i think this site could be so much more but it's basically being avoided by many now for the reasons I mentioned.

I reckon it needs to be cleaned up and fast.

Surely you gotta be trolling with a post like that OP..

Kinda like a backhanded compliment..

I'm sure Laurie will be straight onto it and clean it up just for you tonight.

What's your Facebook group.. Maybe we can spice it up a bit on there as it sounds boring.

what nonsense drivel.. you can have your facebook "group", feed the corporate hounds data mining your personal web browser for financial gain I prefer my privacy! I see very very little racism here and your front runner bigot of the week so far lol

At the very least make your awesome "group" on reddit or some other sight that doesn't exploit you and your information mr bigot...

My post is genuine and I stand by it. So far some people are proving my point for me.

I always come back to this thought. Would we all stand by what we write on this forum and say the same stuff, act the same way in person?.

Picture this: standing on the beach bummed out to hear a kiter drowned and some dick head starts going, "Oh he deserved it, should have got lessons", you know the all too often crap you read on here. Would you guys tolerate it? Would the guy have even had the courage to make such a stupid comment in real life?

But hey, if the masses on this forum think that's cool then yep I'll move on and leave them to it.

Talking about someone who died like you suggested is unacceptable. However most of the trolling is just a bit of a laugh or venting. Take away these guys and you'll have an empty boring forum. (the windsurf section)

Embrace it dude, my morning routine wouldn't be complete without checking the forum to see who RPM or waveslave insulted while pushing out a (you know who referance that post) on the can. Just check out RPM's last post he calls windsurfers "the jehovas witnesses of the watersports community" oh my gosh I'm still snickkering about that one . Aswell shouldn't this be in the WA section.

Any community contains any number of personality types.

If you've not had to "manage" posters, I'd suggest that its because the folks you don't want in your group haven't found your group yet. It's been my experience, that any community on the interweb will have people who say whats on their mind, regardless of whether there name is on screen or not.

Once the people you don't want start posting, you will then need to make decisions about their posts - should it stay, should it go? Should the member stay or go? Sounds like maybe you've not reached that point yet.

You are being discriminatory against bogans. Who else is going to keep old commos in their pristine rusty, multi-coloured panel perfection? They also act as a support group for the low quality tattooists out there, that are struggling to make a living - and that is a lifetime commitment to helping commerce. They are also helping to preserve traditional Australian low socio-economic phrases like, ***** ****. Who else has the ability to use language in such a unique way?

Take your hate away from the forum and back to your little fb group.

In regards to this - are those posts still there? No.

Was it cleaned up same day? Yes.

I'm guessing you weren't/aren't aware of the little "report post" flag at the top of each post. Simply click that to let us (there are 5 moderators) know, and we'll have a squiz. (Somebody else did report it, and it was removed straight away, as anyone who read it will atest)

I'd suggest that it's not "out of control", it's managed as best we can, and inappropriate stuff moved generally the same day. (i.e. both "cleaned up", and "fast")

This forum is all about sharing a good vibe, and good aussie banter is welcome.

Abuse & being nasty is not welcome, so we're on the same page, I do believe.

You don't get out much do you.. There will always be a percentage of the population that has conflicting beliefs and opinions and unfortunately on a Internet forum (and the real world) they represent the vocal minority.

Not so much that they post the most but their posts are the "loudest" because they stand out and you remember them the most. Take away that bias and this forum isn't that much different in balance from society, the only difference is u can't hide away in your little "safe bubble" your so used too.

This is my take on it anyway, life would be pretty straight without twisties..

Thanks for your responses Laurie. I have had members email me privately thanking me for this thread but too scared to say so on the forum. I think you have a tough job trying to filter content on here and I can imagine you wouldn't want to censor too much. Don't be fooled though, the lynch mob is strong on here, past "good aussie banter".
Am I losing sleep or swearing at the keyboard?, no. Can I spend my time on other forums?, yes.

Enjoy the forum folks, it's what you make of it.
