Hi,

I'm 80kg/176cm (176lbs/5.77 feet).

Which size should I go with? I have no chance to demo this board... I want to ride it in boots (although maybe straps for several first sessions), and that will be my wake+kite universal board.

I've read about how this board hurt your knees in the chop. As chop is a constant condition in the place I ride, I'm a little worried by this... Is it true? Now I ride a Shinn Monk which is really cosy in chop, but I want something to move on with my yet basic wakestyle moves (now I'm doing s-bends, railey blind/wrapped and so on).

Please advise...

Think if your worried about chop hurting your knees you should steer clear of unhooking!

The extra rocker will help with chop, as will the padding in your boots in comparison to straps. Just watch the amount of duck on the boots if your knees are dodgy.

what's the recommended size for 89kg. was thinking of going with 142.

I weigh 82 to 92 depending on how much kiting I get in. I used to ride a 138 and was fine. I'm 180 tall, any taller I'd go the 142.

thanks for the reply. my current board is a 138 ss len10 and terrible when underpowered. just pushes water and doesn't want to plane to an edge as it has a fair rocker. good on the landings though and can old so much power when really over powered.
that's the main reason i was thinking of going for the bigger board. i guess i'm looking for something more efficient

other boards;
Shinn monk 135x42 normal ride
cab plasma 145x48 (ish) for light wind

kites
RPM 2013 9m & 14m
Core GTS2 2014 12m

I find adjusting the angle of my feet and overall stance makes a huge difference to how my knees feel after a long day in the chop. I also find locking them straight makes the knees feel better, not so great on the spine though

Thank you guys for all the feedback. From what I understood it looks like 138 should perform in my case, and this is mainly a matter of preference.

I feel like tilting towards Tona Pop 138, plus I was given a little better price than for 142. I really hope that this size will perform well in boots under my 78-80 kg weight.

It's my last chance to be persuaded to pick 142 instead :)

Please :)

I ride a 142 tona pop, I weigh 90kg.
I find the extra length gives better pop!

I'm pretty much the same dimensions as you and used to ride the 138 (which actually measures 139). I personally wouldn't go the 142 in this case. Unless always riding in marginal wind. I found the pop good in chop. It's rocker, base contours and weight (on the heavy side) all contribute to a smooth ride.. Can't see why someone would say it doesn't go well in chop

Yeh i recon its really good in chop compared to my other boards, north jaimie and naish monarch. Both these boards were to flexy and would overflex on landings especially in chop. Which forced me to have a higher kite. The pop is alot more controlable when landing fast and hard in chop.

I would have to say that the pop is "OK" in the chop. tona flow is way better in the chop!

Agree with Kemp. 2 seasons on the pop now on the flow
Pop goes in lower wind. If it is magrginal forget the flow
Flow holds a lot more power and landing are softer than pop, not that the pop has hard landings

The only real negative I would say for the pop is when really powered loading hard the rail can slip out giving an awkward pop

Pop 138 is a small board for a 138. I would definitely go for the 142 if you are approaching 80kgs or anything above.

Second Tweak I'd go the 142 at anything over 80kgs maybe even 75. The Pop has really small tips so rides small for it's size. I loved the 142.

Guys, thank you very much for your opinions.

I read all of them carefully once again and just ordered 142 :) Can't wait :)

Cheers!

My knee and ankle is getting real sore from the pop, today's session I came out limping. What duck do others use? I need to do something different cause I can't keep going like this, it's not like I'm an old overweight man ether!

I think you could have got away with the 138 or the 142. I ride 138 behind the board and my pop is 142 i weigh 95kg. Going the larger size isn't a bad thing, it will plain better and allow you to slow down your rotations and give more style to your tricks. If you ride in some serious chop conditions and worried about your knees i would have recommended the Flow, but the Pop is fine in the chop, just stretch before your ride and get your stance right.

Kemp on the Pop due to the stud configuration i ride 15/15 on my wakeboard which is a straight alignment i ride 18/18.
